happened to me again last night only slept 2 hours. Had two other ones that I remember from within the past few weeks.

1st nightmare (few weeks ago):
end of the world. Nasa shot down a space structure that was gonna land on Earth and cause massive tsunamis worldwide. I got caught up in the tsunami as I walked outside. I expected to die within a second but I survived somehow. Got squeezed by "400 tons" of rubble. That is what I said to myself in my dream. Crawled out of the rubble and ended up on the roof of a building and saw a landscape of untouched buildings. No sign of the tsunami. I woke up right after. I don't remember how I felt afterward. probably tired.

2nd nightmare (sometime last week):
shot up by poachers in the African savannah. was a tourist riding in an open jeep. I survived a ton of bullets but each one stung. crawled away a bit and ended up in the fetal position waiting to die but it never happened. Saw the color Grey before I woke up in a panic. My body felt stinging sensations for a few seconds in real life.

3rd nightmare (around 6-8 am today):
Cornered by two Crocs. I tried to climb a fence but wasn't fast enough. I woke up just before I got eaten. Fast heart rate when I woke up but nothing else. Pretty tired and depressed but I can still focus on things today.

I am aware I am dreaming when I dream, so I don't have those surprise awakenings like in movies, but sometimes it's just too fucking stressful in there, so I get up and watch old gamegrumps or something.

I haven't had what I would consider a nightmare since I was like 5 years old

I honestly can't recall the last time I had what I'd consider a "bad" dream or a nightmare.

I'll occasionally have an odd dream where I'm driving a car that's WAY too small for me and I'll drive off the road becasue I can't properly move my arms to steer. I'll realize it's a dream though, and I'll wake myself up and notice I'm tangled up in my sheets and it's restricting my movement.

I've only had a couple of actual scary nightmares in my life. So, once every few decades was my vote.

I've had a few repeated dreams over the years as well. None that really wake me up suddenly though.

That sucks. I wonder if there is a medication that can help. I'm pretty sure my dreams are related to my anxiety which has been untreated for about a decade now. I used to get treated for it but it did subside for a few years and thought I'd be ok. Only recently ramped up again due to lifestyle changes.

Are you asking how often we have nightmares, or how often they wake us up?

I usually only have nightmares if I'm worn out before I go to sleep, stay up too late, or if I have a bad headache.

Like one a year.

A lot of times if I'm having a nightmare, I'm like "hold up, this plot is kinda good, lemme see how this turns out for me."

I'd have to have nightmares in the first place. Considering I don't remember having good, boring, or just plain weird dreams either, I might not be dreaming at all. Perhaps my brain has gotten so stressed out over everything that's been going on in the political sphere since around 2015 or so that it's just taken to shutting itself down almost-completely when I'm asleep, just so there's guaranteed time where it isn't experiencing a nightmare (waking or otherwise).

oh, if anyone wants to know how to reduce nightmares, as well as improve chances for lucid dreams, take a passionflower supplement before bed.
i've only had good dreams since starting, prob about 3/4 of all my dreams are the hot kind of dream but ymmv.

I take melatonin to sleep and sometimes it gives me really vivid dreams that I snap awake from. They arent usually nightmares usually so much as depressing dreams. Stuff like my mom still being alive and being a mess or me losing my house

It's been a while since I had a nightmare, although when I was younger I used to be able to wake myself up from nightmares because I'd realize that it wasn't real.

I don't really have 'nightmares' per se but sometimes the dreams are intense enough that I wake up from them, not scared though just like whoa. They typically aren't coherent enough to be frightening, just vivid.
