Bad writing?

Maybe he thought he saw him as a small version of himself?

Bad Writing?

Plot device?

Plot device in badly written plot?

Take your pick.

Pretty much all of the MCU spider-man movies are much better when you dont think too hard about them (And MCU as a whole lmao).

Far from home and No Way Home both have a LOT of plot weirdness if you think about it, but theyre very fun when you dont.

Tony Stark is an arrogant prick, who trusts the kid he trained more than anyone else because he trained him.

A character acting in character actually.

This is the guy who *checks notes*

-traveled to the middle east with no disguise in the midst of a war to advertise his missles to the army and show off

Entered a Nascar race at the height of attention and co traverse surrounding him with no disguise

Three a parry at his house, got drunk snd nearly killed people

Gave an international terrorist, and any viewers watching, his home address on live television

And that's just movie Stark. Let's not get to comic Stark.

A character doing dumb things that are in character isn't bad writing.

I think there's also the fact that he started seeing Peter as a surrogate son, and losing him during Infinity War really weighed on him.

so he wanted to leave something behind that could help protect Peter, who he misjudged in willing to take on that kind of responsibility.

if Peter was willing to accept what Tony left behind, there wouldn't have been much of an issue, but we saw what happened.

For point one he was a corporate weapons dealer with military escorts, the bad guys got him because his partner wanted him dead.

NASCAR and the other things were stupid, but iron man 2 and 3 had pretty bad writing/plot as well imo.

Honestly I was just posting ideas, and couldnt come up with more than 2 so I just reused them as a joke, I apologize.

I mean stanes plan worked because Stark was an idiot. He agreed to do that.

3 is awesome. 2 is flawed but not because Stark acts like an idiot in it. Stark acting like an idiot is a major part of his character. If he wasn't a genius engineer with rich parents he'd be a worse Peter Parker lol

He also wanted Peter to be protected as he knew he'd continue being spider man in his wake

Fair point, and I didnt hate 2-3 they just had some bad parts/plot points I wasnt a huge fan of, but they are still good-ok movies imo.

Which is why I said he may have seen him as a small version of himself. I honestly should have used younger version though.
