Not bad for a fad game of the month

The only reason it's not my GOTY is because the beginning part I found really unfun because it's kind of a slog to grind through to get the actual fun stuff that you can do. The most fun part about this live service game is that the game play loop is fun because it actually requires coordination and communication. Plus it's also hilarious as well, this game is what Starship Troopers game should've been.

i broke 12 hours in just a week, that's insane for me for a multiplayer game. im having so much fun

It's a live service game done right imo. If a live service game is great just from the box, it can only get better imo.

Short answer: it's fun.

That's about it. There's no deep story. Graphics are okay but not amazing. Progression and unlock systems are nothing to write home about.

The mood is campy, cheesy, and deliberately over the top. The basic gameplay formula is good. The multiplayer principles allow for fun moments including mistakes. It's deliberately designed, past a certain point, to be overwhelming.

It's not for everyone, but that's the reason it got so popular. And the $40 price point certainly helps.

Yes

The gun physics and the way the damage hits the enemies immediately sold me on it. It feels exactly like playing the Starship Troopers movie. Blowing off legs, nuking whole fields, posting up in a stronghold and fighting off huge waves...

Every shot feels good.

I still talk about Palworld with coworkers. We have a server and all that.

You shoot.
You kill.
You die.
Within a few seconds, you usually are back, shooting some more.
And dying some more.

You start the mission, and it's usually 90%+ pure action, no ribbons or other strings attached. There is the goal on the map, go there, do stuff.

If you have some people to play with with voicechat, it's even better. Maybe you are all a nicely disciplined squad with clear orders. Maybe you will scream at each other as if it were Mario Kart, because someone dropped a shell on you.

It's rarely frustrating, even if you get your ass kicked.

Yeah, the tone and second-to-second excitement keep it fun no matter what, in my experience.

The air strike functions are also amazingly cool to use.

It's not something anyone NEEDS to play. It's just fun and funny as fuck. You will die. Maybe more from teammates than the enemies. But you just gotta accept that and carry on the missions because it's fun and the battle passes/leveling give you a fun carrot to chase instead of just cosmetics. And from my understanding, every battle pass will be here to stay and not money grubbing and time gated. You also never technically have to spend more money because you can get premium currency from the battle passes themselves AND just exploring during missions.

It's also very respectful of your time. You can pick it up for a quick 5-10 min. sesh. Or you can get lost for hours. Up to you.

I mean, it canstill be frustrating when you die do some stalker, get called back, only to land in the center of thevenemy swarm, only to die 4 seconds later, and this repeats 5 times.

Or when you play against the bots, and suddenly it feels like you have a rocket magnet on your back, causing a similar back-to-back death experience.

But besides that, it's usually fun, even if some "friendly" autocannon turret shots you in the back.

I hate the bug missions way more than the bot missions. Someone said the bot ones were harder but no way. Those acid spewing bugs are fucking bastards.

Also I was playing a lvl 6 mission earlier and was about to finish up the operation when the servers kicked me out. The game slowly kicked two other people out then after 15 or so minutes eventually kicked me. Hoping the lone soldier left was able to get through to the end that being said, server shit has been the most frustrating part of the game since I started playing. Once that's all ironed out this game will easily be a GOAT multiplayer game.

The bile spewers are the only difficult bugs and half of the bot basically do the same thing by sniping you with rockets.

I bought it this weekend and I'm only up to level six and it's okay enough, but the initial grind hasn't been too fun. I see cool looking shit like flamethrowers available in the not too distant future though.

Just lay down if a bot shoots a rocket. Works every time. Bile spewers' attack home onto you and when you get swarmed by like 3 or 4 of them you're pretty much dead.

Randos need to stop aggroing hordes of enemies that aren't even looking at us. Stop spreading democracy so hard
