they average like 8 views per stream they stream randomly with no schedule and they only say anything when they do good like a quick "yessss" or when they lose a quick "damn whatever" what do they get out of doing it....? i know a few people irl who stream and they dont get anything out of it and im just left confused. i do youtube but they involve editing so its not the same if you want to be snarky

but why? if youre not interacting with anything you might as well play by yourself at that point?

Uncharismatic people have dreams, too. Theirs are just less realistic.

I stream my gameplay because I like having a backup for the recordings. It's saved my ass a few times.

There's badically no barrier to entry and nothing to lose so any positive they do get out of it is pure net gain

People like to share their experiences, and many people are too shy or awkward to get a conversation started. Back when Twitch was Justin.tv, I used to stream old cartoons, and it took a little while to get a sizeable audience, but just seeing people were there and probably enjoying the cartoons I was showing made me happy. Gradually, people would begin conversing with one another, either about what was being shown, or just casual conversations. I streamed while I was at work and while sleeping, but when I was home, I would also chat with the viewers.

Usually, it helps if the viewers starts the interaction with the streamer or one another and are generally interested in what's being streamed and not just harassing the streamer with what they consider "boring" or "bad" or not having enough viewers.

does it ever actually help you to understand when you ask rhetorical questions about how people enjoy things, or is it simply to make others feel insecure about their likes and any answer to the question won't actually benefit you whatsoever?

No you know what I mean I mean those people who literally dont talk or interact with anything like those reaction channels people love to hate on where they say generic comments literally the same thing but with games instead of YouTube videos. Dont misunderstand me I mean how low effort and wasteful the content is that literally no one would enjoy if it was put in front of them
