From what I could figure from Dune Part 2 (fucking fantastic, watch it)

So the Bene Jesserit both kinda... created the mythology of the Haderich but also kinda fucked themselves over? Are they responsible for CREATING the Haderich itself with their own myths and whatnot, or did they see that this figure was supposed to come due to the Spice and they were just trying to ensure they could control their own "God" when they arrived?

Did they assure their own failure? Let's say they didn't try to shape things and just let everything transpire as their visions showed them, would Paul ever have ascended to become the Haderich? Cause it's definitely NOT supposed to be him and instead be his sister.

Are those the witches who serve as council? Because from how I took it, especially the line 'there are no sides', is that this was always the path and they couldn't change it. That's why they coerced Elvis to fight on their side, why he stepped up to fight Wonka and ultimately die, because he wasn't that great of a fighter.

They all essentially set into motion a majority of both films, so this seemed to always be the destined pathway. Similar to the One Eyed Raven. It's one of those strings of fate things, where everything that happens was always supposed to happen.

But didn't it not go to plan in the first place by Paul getting it rather than his sister? Or like, he wasn't supposed to get it in the first place?

From what I could tell, the Jesserit passed that mythology to the Fremen to leave them always waiting for their own holy figure while the Jesserit "knew" that it was gonna be a female, not a male?

I truly don't know, as I've never read the books nor really care about the mythology behind the film. But this trope seems to be prominent in most films and TV with a chosen one and prophecy.

general Dune spoilers I figure ahead.

If I remember the books right, they invented the mythology for their own convenience to exploit later when they deemed appropriate.

Jessica messed everything up. It wasn't supposed to be him. It came a generation to early if I remember right as a result. I believe this gets explored a good bit more in the later books.

Edit and spoilers

Jessica was supposed to deliver a girl. That girl was supposed to be paired with a Harkonen. The offspring from that union is what the Bene Gesserit wanted. As I seem to remember. I haven't read the books for a long time now.

From my understanding:
They planned for the next generation to have the Water of Life-empowered male. Hence why his mom was supposed to have a girl and why he just barely survived taking the poison. They figured he was dead/going to die so they sent the one Reverend Mother to seduce Feyd-Rautha (his cousin that he fights at the end of the movie) so they could try again with the genes. This is why after seducing him she mentions she was able to secure a child and use her powers to ensure it was a female.

Too accustomed to using || on discord for spoilers lmao

I could be mistaken, but Pauls Mother was suppose to have a female child that would marry the floating fat guys son and make a perfect child with him (I think male then), but instead she gave the duke a son screwing up their years of eugenics.

Rebecca Fergusson was his daughter though.

Neither. The Bene Gesserit believe in the eventual product of Paul Atreides but theyre fearful of the risk of losing everything by taking such a drastic genetic shortcut. They intend to wed Atreides to the Harkonnen bloodline and take the safe, much longer path.

Kwisatzch Haderach is translated as the shortening of the way.

I said I could be mistaken, I just remember the child was supposed to marry a Harkonnen next. Feyd-Rautha was the next intended father/dna donor.

Apparently he wasn't son of the fat guy I apologize, I always thought he was. He was adopted it seems.
