I click on TYT after not having watched it in a while, already somewhat annoyed at Cenk and even moreso at Ana... and what am I treated to? Ana making a "both sides" argument where she compares Trump's election interference and republican voter suppression with the democratic party primary issues. Well, I know she is a smart woman, so I have to assume it's either dishonesty or encroaching right wing brain rot that made her conveniently forget that inter-party political primaries are not subject to the same laws as general elections, they are fundamentally so different in that a political party can do what they want so long as it complies with other areas of the law like financing of candidates and who gets on the ballot. I could see her making the argument that having the process be like it is might hurt the democrats, and it absolutely does impede progressive candidates - but that's not her argument. She was doing "whataboutism" comparing an insurrection after months of deliberate election misinformation and a conspiracy to send fraudulent electors to install Trump back into power with shitty party primary policy. Just like your neighborhood hair salon or hardware store has laws and regulations regarding who they can hire, serve,... so do political parties. However, they are still private businesses and still get to decide the hiring process and ultimately the individual hire. Whatever business you work for could make it official tomorrow that all new hires or promotions will be done through direct democracy, one associate one vote.... there's nothing preventing that. (again so long as they observe all the other standard laws that we as a society have in place) I can start a new political party right now, and then decide we pick candidates by my whim, drawing names from a hat, or through a rigorous voting process... it's not an election to office. YouTube is host to practically the full spectrum of any kind of content, including news orgs with low or no trustworthiness like FOX. Opinion pieces are just that and not presenting as news reports. Content creator personalities will also have audio podcasts, blogs, websites, Twitter, instagram, Facebook, etc. just like all the other organizations or public facing figures and organizations.
