Yeah I would agree with TLOU2 counting but not TLOU1 for reasons Leon brought up.

I'd agree with FFVI counting, although it's definitely murkier with ensemble games with a massive cast and a main protagonist that's not centralizing.

There's also the grey area with games allowing a choice between fixed protagonists of differing gender like RE2. I imagine fully customizable protagonists like Skyrim probably wouldn't count though I see P3P often in lists of classic otome games.

I don't think results need to be competitive honestly. High turnout is the most important factor for a fun topic.

I think my enjoyment comes from watching you guys debate. I have to read every vote and it gets so tedious when it's not close. I absolutely love a close race for 3rd/4th coupled with you guys arguing. you have to idea how gratifying it is when someone comes in and says "WELL HAVE YOU CONSIDERED X??" and I watch the votes swing

wish they could all be like that, but that's an experience pretty much exclusive to me

My knowledge of webcomics is pretty limited so I don't have much to say there

I've pretty much agreed with the party line in most of the recent Rushmores so I have less to debate about, and some of my arguments I do remember making haven't panned out (DDLC not being included on the VN Rushmore was ridiculous). But I'll do my best to stir some shit up.

It's not exactly the debating that's my favorite, but the learning and the values being discovered during them...it's just hard to have those be clear without somebody making the case against the grain at some point.

• Simpsons one-off guest stars (aka guest stars who only appeared in one episode. So Hank Scorpion wouldn't qualify because Albert Brooks has been in one other episodes. You could change this if you really wanted but I think it makes the Rushmore less competitive because then we all pick Kelsey Grammer lol)

Only one of those games is objectively bad. It could have been much worse.

yeah I was pretty disappointed in board games because I didn't intend for Go/Chess/Checkers to be the focus but at the time everyone was on board with it (no pun intended)

That works too! I was mostly trying to differentiate between somebody like Sideshow Bob or even Krusty's father compared to a one-time role. But yes, your way of phrasing is much better.

To not interrupt the convo in the current topic, I propose the obvious counterpart to today's rushmore: Games That Improved With Age (working title but basically the reverse of today, just games that through either reevaluation or even just greatly increased exposure are a lot less divisive today than when they came out)

For Juneteenth I think black actors or black VG characters would pretty good

Maybe rename that one to 'Games That Aged Like Wine'? Nothing really improves with age.

i liked it? I think my brain was broken by that point

i really like the Jewish knuckles episode the most though, I remember laughing uncontrollably for most of it. Not because it was particularly funny but I think my brain was making me laugh as some kind of primitive defense mechanism

Older games only made it because the people voting here don't know any newer games.

I think Settlers of Catan is hot garbage but it invented modern Eurogames and should be on the list. Pandemic Legacy is the reason legacy games reinvented campaign board gaming and still holds up. Dominion essentially invented the deckbuilder genre. Twilight Imperium is a fucking legend in and of itself.

Those four are a far more accurate Rushmore of the hobby.
