I mean I do think despite the reason the term exists, it has merit.
Like I often think Japan higher ups for example comes down heavily on drug use/possession (Even if it's not say drinking/driving or giving drugs to minors) cause they want to look like they care about maintaining order and drugged up people are easier to deal with. Or to turn it back directly on Republicans, many who due to religion or not who object to LGBTQ+ on "moral" grounds, but anyone caring to examine the person will see actual sins. --- Amalgam Universe resident Born in 82. ... They did. I don't know about here - I just popped over here today. But The Economist (not exactly a liberal rag) absolutely called out the antics of folks like Kim Reynolds and Ron DeSantis, using the very term "virtue signaling" (specifically referring to virtue signaling to their respective bases).
