Like let's say there was no exhaust port and there was no way to destroy it by shooting torps into a shaft..........if millions of ships had arrived to take it on, could they have just fired at it and penetrated its armor to destroy it that way? Especially if they they all concentrated fire on a single spot?

With it's shields, and counter fire? Plus the amount of fighters it can deploy? Nah.

It's still a colossal sphere that'd take an immense amount of firepower to blast into pieces.
Though... I do wonder now, what would happen if all of Earth's nuclear weapons were detonated across the surface of a 100-mile diameter moon?

Of course it did. It just didn't have the kind of shield projected from the forest moon.

It had ray shields at the least, given that the mission briefing specified that even the exhaust port is ray shielded, hence the need for torpedoes in the first place.

I think a million+ ships would be enough, though. A million is a lot.

Funnily enough this exact thing can be performed in OGame, since Deathstars are an actual ship you can build. However, that game has what's called the "bouncing rule", which means if your attack damage is <1% of the shield's strength, it just bounces off and does no damage. So forget millions - you could send septendecillions of Light Fighters, Heavy Fighters or Cruisers (damage 50, 150, 400 respectively) versus one Deathstar (shield strength 50000) and they would make no progress against it.

Obviously this isn't how Star Wars works, the topic just amusingly brought this to mind.

What if the death star had every Pokemon on board and you had a billion ships piloted by lions attack it?

Yes.

As for shields, it exist multiple different shields in Star Wars. The OG Death Star didnt have any heavy shields because of design reasons.
It is a big fucking spacestation the size of the moon, that alone makes people stay away in fear.
It is also filled with tons of fighters that will swarm anybody foolish enough to get close enough.
The Empire also believed that it would be impossible for the rebels to gather a big enough force to be able to destroy all its fighters and seriously damage the Death Star enough.

Depends on what those millions of ships are. TIE fighters? Not a chance. X wings? Probably disable but not destroy before they ran out of fuel and torpedoes. Imperial Star Destroyers or Mon Calamari cruisers? Easily.

Yes. Anything built can be destroyed with enough power. The problem is the rebel's did not have anything close to the power to stop the Death Star in a direct attack.

Prob not due to its shields. Plus the station is likely a self sustaining planet in and of itself. So it could force a war of attrition if it wanted to and likely win.
