Honestly, racism towards Asians are incredibly rare here, so you should be fine. As for bbq, be sure to check out Hard 8 Pit and Hutchins BBQ. No one open carries here. I went to Hard Eight BBQ at The Colony. Its a nice area and food was good. Driving was scary on the freeway. Google Maps has some exits wrong and I ended up getting lost after taking the wrong off ramp. I hate how wide the freeway is and how there are so many branching paths.
