Fucking hell, what a marathon. I'm glad to move on to another game now. The level of planning and micromanaging that went into some of the battles was fairly taxing. Had to take many breaks. Still, glad it's done. Globe of Invulnerability came in clutch during the final fight, and Minthara being able to fly at will made getting up the tower a breeze. Ansur remains a bitch.

Good job. I made it through one mostly-complete playthrough at 290 hours. I cannot imagine doing multiples like you apparently did

My first playthrough was about 110 hours. I had my furthest fail at 80 some odd hours when Ansur killed me back in the early parts of January. Took me almost 2 months to get back. Just shy of 90 hours.

I'm nearing the end of my run (just have the final run and boss left). It actually hasn't been that bad this run. Act 1 and the early part of Act 2 were a bit tough, but getting free turns in most of the fights thanks to Shovel's invisibility and Hunger of Hadar being ridiculously strong made it manageable.

Act 3 has been a cakewalk for the most part. Only bosses that gave me some trouble was Gortash and Raphael. I also made the decision to skip Ansur, as I didn't need any of the items for the builds I was running so I didn't feel like it was worth the effort. I am a bit worried about the Netherbrain after reading up on some of the honor mode changes about the fight.

Gortash was actually really easy. For some reason, he decided to go before anyone else was even ready, and charged out into the antechamber after Karlach broke one of the incinerator machines on the wall. Used his entire movement to get up to me, then just stood there allowing me to wail on him for an entire round. Raphael was difficult, but a judicious use of Globe of Invulnerability and Minthara's illithid powers to command the battle kept them under control.

Orin wasn't as hard as Raphael, but I needed to figure out clever ways to keep her sanctuary held Bhaalists from aiding her, then the Unstoppable charges from giving her too much freedom. Astarion made his worth known here as an 8Bard/4Thief. He built up arcane acuity charges with his multiple attacks, then controlled the entire field with fear and confusion. Again, Minthara used her Illithid powers to black hole people around to slow them, and Tav paralysed Orin for a couple of rounds.

when it comes to that... the best method imo is to start another game then come back to it later (make progress where we left off).

Oh yes. While I spent the majority of my gaming time in the last 2 months on BG3, I also played the FF7 Rebirth demo, Unicorn Overlord demo, Super Mario RPG, Cyberpunk 2077 (though I didn't beat any of them), Contra Anniversary Collection, etc. Just something to break up playing BG3 and refresh myself.

Gortash was harder than he needed to be because my Hunger of Hadar + Plant Growth strategy didn't work as effectively as I thought it would. I had planned to use it to slow him down long enough for me to take out most of the other guards, but one of their fire bombs managed to barely catch the edge of PG, then Gortash was able to jump out of HoH from about halfway in. He then immediately went into his Avatar of Bane form, and because I didn't know what his clones did, I made the mistake of attacking them for 1 turn instead of going all in against him. Still managed to take him out, but I made enough mistakes in that battle to make it harder than it needed to be.

As for Raphael, it was also made harder than it needed to be because of Yurgir. I had olanned to use the same trick I used on my Tactician run of using Wall of Stone to cut him off while I take out the cambions and using one of my summons to bait him into attacking them in one of the back corners. But Yurgir (who was on my side) decided to end his turn right in the middle of where the wall was supposed to be, forcing me to have to put if forward a little which left enough of a gap for Raphael to attack part of my party that was on the side. Then he decided to use his shotgun blast attack against a lone enemy, taking out a large chunk of the wall. Managed to win after I was able to land a Tasha's Hideous Laughter on Raphael to give me time to finish off the cambions.

Orin ended up being pretty easy for me because of all the stun sources I had. Between an Air Myrmidon summon, Jaheira wild shaped into an Air Myrmidon herself, and stunning strike from monk Karlach, I was able to keep her stunned the whole time after her 1st turn. And with all the attacks I had + magic missle from Shadowheart, getting through her unstoppable stacks was easy.

Yurgir was rendered ineffective in my battles because he either died to my carpet bomb of barrelmancy, or Hope revoked his guest access using her special command on her turn. I had enough Globe of Invulnerability casts to last the battle and give me a place to hide/recover from Raphael's monstrous attacks.
