Both my parents and myself have become addicted to Supermarket Simulator, and have been playing it constantly. On my laptop it runs perfect. On my mom's laptop it runs perfect. On my dad's weird partial-desktop thing that he has (it's like an entire PC built into a monitor or something), it's pretty choppy. I make a comment that we need to get him a stonger computer to play it on, and he immediately says "No, it just looks like this because my computer is too powerful for it and the game's running too fast." I laugh but then he doubles down and I realize that oh, he's saying this without a shred of irony.

In what universe does that make any sense?

Nah, my mom and I just have really solid gaming laptops that I bought us with my COVID money back in 2020, but my dad turned down the offer to buy him one as well because he "knows computers better than us".

It's not even a cry for assistance, just laughing at a boomer with a superiority complex that causes him to think a visibly choppy game is somehow running much better than a smooth one.

Tooooo be fair, some games do lock aspects of the game world to frame rate, so things get weird if you run them too well.
