I was a fan of the harry potter movies growing up. It had been a while since I had seen the wizarding world, I decided to watch this instead of rewatching any specific movie....I wish I had just rewatched one of the movies as all 8 of them are better than fantastic beasts 1

Newt Schamander is a terrible protagnoist. Mumbles all the time and just made me miss harry.

Jacob plus flirty sister is a terrible forced romance. Tina had no real presence

Cgi is bad (for its time....and well now).

Newt and Tina were trying to protect Ezra Miller but the wizards came and blew up Ezra....and everyone was fine? Shouldnt Neet have been upset. Also wont hold it against the film but it is weird seeing Ezra with all of thr controversies to come (like I said, cant hold it against a movie for future actions of one actor).

Maybe a great movie can be made in this franchise with adults outside of hogwarts but this wasnt it. The setting of hogwarts definitely is key.

I definitely wont be continuing this franchise as this is considered the better one

I thought the first was good, they got progressively worse after that. 2 was a fucking mess and 3 was mostly boring.

1 sucks. Just cgi chase scene fluff for two hours. Oh it's the bibblybobblogograpax! I don't remember a single "fantastic creature" from that film.

2 sucks too but at there's actually a plot.

I already forgot them and I just watched it

This movie just doesn't have the magic (no pun intended) of the mainline

Not to keep piling on this movie but it feels like all of hollywood blockbuster problems in one movie

Id take all 8 harry potter movies, thr entire lotr movie collection (fuck throw in rings of power as well, at least it was pretty) and the entire mcu (movies and tv...that includes secret invasion)

Im surprised how low I am on this

I actually liked 1 a lot. I liked the characters and the different setting. Particularly liked Jacob for being a muggle who actually gets to be a character.

And yeah, if you disliked this one that much, its absolutely for the best that you dont continue. The next 2 are horrific lol

If you didn't like 1, I can't wait to see how much you hate 2 and 3.

The first was decent. The others are terrible.

Did they ever state who Credence's/Aurelius' mother was in the third film? I know Aberforth is his father.

Secret Invasion is nowhere near as bad as everyone online says it is, except for the last episode. Crazy how over hated anything from the MCU is now because its so cool to hate on marvel nowadays

2 & 3 are so filled with ridiculous nonsense, bad writing, plot holes, retcons, and just complete bullshit.

Why do you hate 5, I thought it and parts of 6 were FAR AND AWAY the most interesting in the series with the allegories to WWII.

I dont hate 5. I dont hate any of them. I probably rank all of them between a 7/10 and 9/10

Current MCU isn't hated because it's "cool to hate on Marvel" these days, it's because they're actually just putting out a bunch of undercooked slop and expecting us to care about it. They don't care about making good movies or shows, just more content for us to spend money on.

The first one is just kind of there. This would be okay if the MC was someone interesting. Instead we get Newt Charmander.

The second one introduces the actual plot, but the movie itself is so poorly made that its aggravating to watch. The third one is a weird rush to find a decent stopping point while also dicking around and being boring. It doesn't help that the main villain is recast and might as well be an entirely different character.

There is a bit of its cool to hate on and infinity war hides a lot of mediocre titles prior to it

I actually loved the first Fantastic Beasts, but I hated the second one and didn't bother with the third. The first Fantastic Beasts gave a sense of wonder and made the wizarding world feel like a world. The plot wasn't great, but it was sufficient for the kind of film that it was.

I hadn't been a big fan of the Harry Potter films because they never managed to capture me like the books had captured me. Admittedly, it's rare that I ever like faithful adaptations as much as the source material.

But yeah, 2 was trash and I hear 3 was also trash, possibly even bigger trash.

I could go on a tangent about the MCU, but now isn't the time, so I'll leave a brief answer. The MCU as a whole always had stinkers. Prior to Endgame, people just ignored or downplayed how bad some of the movies were. Now that many people are done with or tired of the MCU as a whole, films that would've flown by pre-Endgame now get trashed, sometimes moreso than they deserve to be. A lot of casual viewers are just tired and done after 30some movies or however many they have now, so mostly people who really want to hate the MCU and the loyal fans who praise almost everything the MCU puts out are the ones left talking about it.

Incorrect. 1 is a top 3 Potter film. 2 is pretty silly and 3 is outright bad tho.

As for the mcu, I think the biggest flaw has to be not having team up movies/shows to mask the lesser titles like the avengers movies did

For me, the absence of Hogwarts and instead urban settings where magic hid among the non-magical world felt much alive than the one-off portals in the Harry Potter books.

I guess team-ups did kind of mask the weaker films. At the very least, they were awaited payoffs.

Rick & Morty naming conventions for creatures are always funny. You can make up any random shit you want & call it a critter, & be like "yo did you hear that they discovered a blurgabop?! It's totally weird looking."

Then the person who didn't know about it will brag that they know of a blurgabop & then everyone is talking about something that doesn't exist because one person made it up. Just like how fantastic beasts made up a movie out of pixie dust & imagination so it was obviously going to suck ass
