An alliance of convenience. Neither party trusts the other and they both intend to kill the other as soon as they're possibly able to.

You need at least another 500,000 word to fully appreciate Edelgard

Speaking of longass fic, I've been reading a ~840,000 word fic since 2020 (no joke). Currently in final arc with love story, depressing story, assassin, magic, and isekai.
