GTX 1660 Super

Ryzen 5 5600

32 GB RAM

500 W PSU

I want to stay at 1080p/60fps at high/ultra settings, but it's getting difficult with newer games. I suppose I could go for a RTX 3060/4060 (both are priced roughly the same here) or maybe go down the AMD route?

Would there be an option which wouldn't need my buying a new PSU?

Thanks in advance

AMD cards will use less power than nvidia

I think the ones that are relevant for me are the 5700 (which would have to be pre-owned and therefore cheaper than the 3060), the 6600 XT (more expensive than the 3060), the 6650 XT (cheaper than the 3060) or the 6700 XT (much more expensive than the 3060)

e: I checked and I'd still need 50W extra for the 6650 compared to my current 1660 super

You should just bite the bullet and upgrade your psu while you're at it. While it might not be old enough to have suffered too badly, it however is almost definitely not capable of outputting it's full 500w anymore. So, even if you find a gpu that won't put you over it, you'll almost certainly experience instability.

That's a good point and one I wasn't aware of

What's your price limit?

If you don't care about RT, then amd will be much better price to performance

The 3060 is 300, which is roughly what I want to spend on the GPU

if you play a lot of mainstream aaa games i would def get an nvidia card for the dlss feature alone. ik current nvidia cards have frame gen as well but idk how useful that is

just have to sharpen dlss through nvidia control panel to make it look very close to native res (in my case it looks sharper @ 0.5 and just mildly worse looking on some surfaces like spider webs (in baldur gate 3 i noticed some type of shimmering on them but not a big deal). i think ive seen complaints about dlss in motion. well i never noticed it whatever

im still assuming that amd's upscaling tech is still worse by a noticeable amount tho. i havent been following pc news all that much lately

Also I guarantee you that if you play on like a 4k 55 inch TV or larger. And sit say around 5 to 6 feet away

4k (3840x2160) + dlss performance mode which renders game at 1080p (1920 x 1080) and upscales to 4k
Is much better looking than native 1080p and even native 1440p (2560 x 1440) . Even without sharpening.

Super worth it to me bro for those demanding current aaa titles.like I said earlier its very close to looking like the native res of screen after some sharpening.
