That seems like an appropriately-bothering thing, eye strain is more important with age.

I dislike unnecessarily flashy special effects. Every hit in Smash nowadays sets off a small fucking fireworks display. You don't need that to know what's going on, and it doesn't make things look better, just busier.

In ME3 when for some reason they didnt let you holster your weapon during areas where there gonna be action.

Escort mission: NPC walks slower than you even if you actually walk with them so you constantly have to stutter step. Doubly so if there's dialogue and immersion is shattered utterly.

I was playing Witcher 3 not long ago and I noticed that when following Ciri at one point she does that to you.

Really tied home the whole "this is my story" thing.

menu stuff being marked by exclamation points. whenever a game doesn't do this or has a read all option i greatly appreciate it.

xenoblade is the worst with this because even items you've already gotten will be marked once you get them again.

When RPGs let you use status effect spells but the bosses are all immune to them and any enemies they actually work on are weak enough that it's better just to kill them right away.

You know how Rockstar makes you tap A really fast to sprint?

You know how other games click in the left stick?

In this game you sprint by clicking the left stick really fast.

The extra life system.
Unskippable cutscenes.

Though I'd argue neither of those are small things.

Tutorials that get a thick coat of cheap paint and are presented as an opening level or mission.
