LOL considering that Xbox accounts have cross purchase and crossplay, it makes Xbox consoles more attractive to own.

Sony was punished for their arrogance with the PS3 launch. Microsoft got a kicking for the Xbox One launch. Nintendo too, if we count the Wii U. The difference is that both Sony and Nintendo turned it around. Phil Spencer hasn't changed Xbox's fortunes.

I will say no since it is still in its lifespan, but xbox one was absolutely the worst console I ever bought and I love Xbox. They literally did nothing the entire time.

I believe that of the major console developers in my life (Nintendo, Sega, Sony, Microsoft), Xbox One is the only one I never got. Just a completely pointless console with a disaster of a launch.

Saying a console is hitting the latter portion of it's life cycle when we are 4 years in makes sense and is a nothingburger to be concerned about.

People take note of the quote because usually consoles and handhelds entering the latter half of their life cycle have more than zero exclusives worth playing.

This is a different beast of a gen where exclusives clearly don't matter as much considering the PS5 is selling as well as the PS4 at this juncture.

Everyone keeps saying it has nothing but it clearly has enough to entice people to buy it more than it's direct competitor.

This is what you get when blind fanboys back in 2013 pretended that Sony were the "good guys". And for the entire gen they were acting so arrogant that they were blocking crossplay and mods, removed backwards compatibility, censoring games that were released uncensored on Switch, and are now deleting digital content people already purchased.

That's because in addition to also having no games to their name, the Xbox Series consoles are actively inferior in terms of hardware in every other facet not to mention how the Series S and X idea is extremely stupid and borderline Wii U tier naming territory. So for a kid or one of those weirdos who only buy consoles so they can play the newest sports game every single year, PS5 is the answer over the Xbox even if it's still shit.

It's sad how people are so focused on less exclusives being a bad thing even though it's only a net positive for gaming as a whole.

All of those exclusives being stuck on PS2 and PS3 over a decade later aren't doing much nowadays.

Same, I got the XOne as a gift and barely ever used it. Probably the most useless console I've ever owned. I also got the Series S as a gift and barely use that, either, but at least there's been a few more games I've wanted to play on it than the One.

I think a big part of it is that people might feel regret over their purchase. I assume lots of people bought a PS5 because they thought it would be outright better than whatever the new Xbox was. The reality was, they're pretty much the exact same thing aside from the handful of exclusives, so they latch onto those to justify their purchases when they see things like Gamepass or Xbox fans with good enough PCs not even having to purchase a new console.

It's the first Playstation I didn't own.

It's basically a worse PS4, with worse games. But in 4K, meaning it uses more electricity and generates more heat. Glad I passed.

Nah its superior as a console in almost every way to the ps4. I agree the game selection is lacking, but as a machine its quite clearly superior, as it should be.

The load times are very fast, and its much quieter than my ps4 ever was.

Releases the xbox has been struggling to receive ever since the xbox 360 entered it's twilight years and has lasted for 2 console generations afterwards.*
