Why? You really think that a progressive would come out of that convention with a nomination? They would obviously go for a more consensual candidate. Kamala Harris would have a higher chance of getting the nomination than a progressive.
The fact that you think calling for a ceasefire makes you a progressive rather than a bang average dem is pretty bad

Kamala has a lot of baggage that dragged her down in the primary early and would doom her in the eyes of the left. She would not be popular and that's before you even get into other factors that would motivate people to vote against her.

The convention choosing an alternative is a pointless endeavor since they're the idiots who rallied behind Biden to begin with (party leaders endorsed Biden en masse in the 2020 primary even before he became the frontrunner).

They're gonna continue making bad calls and then demanding voters bail them out in the general.

The fundamental difference between the Democrats and the Republicans is that Republicans are about a singular personality, not even a political leader mind you, and that personality is themselves. They are self centered, selfish babies, who believe in "fuck you, got mine".

Democrats are concerned about everyone. We want to help everyone be better. And quite honestly attempting to throw Biden out because maybe he could be a step slower than he was 20 years ago betrays everything that Democrats stand for. If Biden stumbles then we, as Democrats, will help him stand. It's not about any one person it's about the movement towards justice and equality. Anyone not on board with that is not a Democrat.

It's impossible to say. The effectiveness of candidates is shown over the course of the primary campaign season. But since Biden was on the ballot, virtually nobody ran.

I think there are plenty of Democrats who could've run and been taken seriously. Whitmer, Pritzker, Warnock, Brown, etc. But there's no way to know how they play out nationally when obviously they haven't campaigned in that capacity.

But Biden has multiple issues as a candidate that have been blatant for years, yet were constantly overlooked for various circumstantial reasons.

Edit: Misread the quoted post as asking about the 2024 nominee. I responded to the actual question about 2020 later down below. >_>

How was asking about 2020 a bizarre question? Thats the only time Biden being in a primary could possibly be called a waste of space, even tho he won the election. Theres no fucking way youre calling Biden in 2024 a waste of space. Hes the fucking incumbent that makes even less sense

Warnock won a seat in a state that, based on history, he probably wouldn't have under normal conditions. As such his ability to pull that win is highlighted as a (big) plus. He also has wider left appeal than Biden.

Also remember, Obama was a first term senator. So it isn't unheard of for first termers to step up.

Uh yeah, I was talking about 2024.

Biden being on the ballot in 2020 didn't hurt anything since a bunch of other Dems still ran, and he beat Trump that year.

Biden being on the 2024 ballot was bad because it completely discouraged a bunch of other Dems from running, yet he himself stands an iffy chance against Trump.

Even if Biden were completely senile (he isn't) and even if he ordered something stupid to be done with nuclear weapons (he hasn't even suggested anything like that), there are adults in his White House that would step in to stop that.

A second Trump administration would have no such adults in the White House, since the only way anyone would get a position in his administration is by demonstrating full and complete cultish devotion to their God Emperor. Project 2025 amounts to extending that staffing policy as far as humanly possible in the military and executive branch.

Sane people can never be as fired up as rabid cultists.

But that's not a problem. No matter how much a Trumpist is foaming at the mouth, they still only have one vote.

So the thing to do is to calmly and thoroughly outnumber them at the polls.
