According to the Max Planck Institute for the Study of Crime, Security, and Law: stochas tic terrorism involves the use of mass media to provoke random acts of ideolog i cally motivated violence that are statistically predictable but individually unpre dict able. Self-described stochastic terrorist Chaya Raichik, owner of the social media account Libs of TikTok, has become infamous for her viral harassment and moral panic campaigns targeting minorities with an emphasis on vilifying LGBTQ+ existence. Since 2021, Raichiks posts targeting advocates for and members of the LGBTQ+ community have been followed with a deluge of violent death threats (including lynching threats against the Los Angeles Unified School District).

Childrens hospitals and school districts in the crosshairs of Raichik and her devoted fans have collectively suffered over 20 bomb threats so far, according to various law enforcement agencies. Detective Hanna Dvorak of the Coralville Police Department, who investigated one of these bomb threats against a junior high school in her city, told her superiors that it appears this all stems from a post made earlier this week by Chaya Raichik and her Libs of TikTok account.

Nowhere has Raichiks influence been more visible than Oklahoma, where her anti-LGBTQ+ exploits earned her an official position on the Oklahoma Department of Educations Library Media Advisory Committee by controversial far-right Superintendent Ryan Walters. Under Walters leadership, Oklahoma has been aggressively working to ban books and education on LGBTQ+ issues in schools across the state, with Oklahomas Attorney General Gentner Drummond stating that proposed rules to ban LGBTQ+ books and content were unconstitutional and cannot be enforced. Its been confirmed that Raichiks posts have fueled multiple bomb threats against schools specifically in Oklahoma.

Officials from Oklahoma told NBC News that they believe Chaya Raichiks anti-LGBTQ+ culture warring sparked threats in their localities with her posts on social media that digitally heckle people such as drag performers, LGBTQ teachers and doctors who treat transgender patients.

One of these instances was at the Owasso School District (just outside of Tulsa, Oklahoma). In 2022, Chaya Raichik targeted an Owasso teacher for speaking out in support of LGBTQ+ students who lacked acceptance from their parents. Raichiks post was shared thousands of times on social media and resulted in the teacher getting condemned and harassed until they resigned. The posts Raichik made about the teacher were later deleted, but have been archived. Its unclear what prompted the deletion of the posts by Raichik. We know Raichiks Libs of TikTok posts have contributed to a culture of intolerance against LGBTQ+ youth in schools, and now this hate may be manifesting beyond mere threats.

This month, a non-binary 16-year-old student at Owasso High School was brutally murdered in the girls restroom. According to local news outlets and family, Nex Benedict was beaten by three older female students. The mother of Benedicts best friend told KJRH News that "one of the girls was pretty much repeatedly beating [Benedicts] head across the floor. Reports say Benedict was unable to take themselves to the nurses office after a teacher finally intervened in the brutal assault. For reasons that remain unclear, Owasso High School refused to call an ambulance for 16-year-old Nex Benedict, who died from their injuries in the hospital the next day. A motive for this killing has not been shared by law enforcement, but we know that schools in Oklahoma have been specifically pushing violent eliminationist rhetoric against transgender and non-binary youth a fact exemplified by the states hiring of Chaya Raichik following her incitements of terror against the states schools over LGBTQ+ rights.

This is the inevitable result of the anti trans moral panic, said civil rights attorney Alejandra Caraballo, who shared an article about Benedicts death published by the Pittsburgh Lesbian Correspondents Blog. This is horrifying, and comes as lawmakers are increasingly spreading fear over trans people in bathrooms, wrote LGBTQ+ journalist and advocate Erin Reed regarding this murder.

Violent attacks on transgender and non-binary youth have been increasing across the nation as a legislative blitzkrieg from Republican lawmakers targets their collective rights to exist. According to a report from UCLAs William Institute School of Law: 33% of transgender and non-binary youth in the United States have had gender-affirming healthcare key to their existence banned by their local governments. Last year, a transgender teenager named Jacob Williamson was murdered after being stabbed and cut over 30 times. Anti-LGBTQ+ hate trafficked by Raichik and others like her have real world consequences. Lives are already being lost in this climate.

According to their obituary, Nex Benedict loved nature and caring for cats (especially their own cat Zeus) and enjoyed a variety of pastimes such as watching the Walking Dead, reading, and playing Ark and Minecraft. They will be sorely missed by friends, family, and the LGBTQ+ community.

This is difficult and disheartening to read about, but we need to stand up for our community, raise awareness, and fight back against these monsters.

This is what they're pushing for: the erasure and elimination of all LGBT people.

It's sickening, but plenty of people cheer this abhorrent garbage on and actively vote for it.

I'd really like to know why an ambulance was not called. I suppose we'll find out why in the 1983 and/or Title IX lawsuit.

School will likely look to try to settle. That said, as I noted above, there is a very strong case for 1983 and Title IX violations (based on what we know so far) by virtue of deliberate indifference on the part of the school and staff. Might even have an independent wrongful death/negligence action on whoever had custody (for lack of a better word) over the student and chose to not call an ambulance.

This is such a fucked up story. I hope everyone who is to blame goes down hard for this.

A 16-year-old Oklahoma high school student who died a day after an altercation in a school restroom that may have been prompted by bullying over gender identity did not die as a result of injuries sustained in the fight, police said Wednesday.
Police in the suburban Tulsa community of Owasso are investigating the death of 16-year-old Nex Benedict, whose family said identified as nonbinary and used they/them pronouns.

Oklahoma is such a disgusting state. Do they honestly expect us to believe that being brutally assaulted didn't contribute, or be the cause of, their death?

I'm sure the beating that led the child to need to go to the hospital to which the school did not call an ambulance for them had absolutely nothing to do with their death.

It pisses me off that this happened, and it makes it even madder that you have people justifying and downplaying this death on line. This is horrible no matter what you think about non-binary people. Even if you don't think that's a real thing there is nothing that justifies the death of a 16 year old at the hands of hatred and bigotry. Nothing.

Oh and this is the same school where a campaign by libs of Tiktok lead to a teacher getting fired.

It's so horrifying to think of someone, especially a young kid, going through an attack like that and basically suffering until the next day before dying when it might have been prevented had the school simply called an ambulance.

only logic I could guess is they drove him to the ER, but thats riskier if she had a neck injury from the beating. Its just screwed up that teenagers can be this violent to each other.

Given the internet and connected devices being as accessible and affordable as they are, this will never, ever happen. The writing was on the wall once telecom companies started subsidizing the costs of smartphones back in the late '00s/early '10s.

The only way we can have a non-enshittified internet is if the amount of internet users drastically decrease and/or social media platforms and online news outlets become heavily regulated - both of which aren't good ideas and have horrible long-term implications.

If a kid gets a head injury, they go to the hospital to get checked out. That's fucking basic.

Even leaving aside this horrible incident, the parents of every kid in that education system should be worried about the standard of care their children are receiving.

Really hope this family sues Chaya Raichik and everyone else involved back to the Stone Age like the Sandy Hook families did with Alex Jones.

Something worse, I suspect. Another trans student was regularly bullied and then attacked in an act of corrective rape at the school restroom and was told by school staff to not make a big deal of it because it could ruin their attacker's life.

They also allege that the school did nothing about bullying in general and that they also ignored many pleas for help for a student who was self-harming; said student eventually committed suicide.
