Either Manga or Anime?

Ive always been slightly curious. Just looking for some opinions.

Manga.

The anime hasn't aged well imo

The manga is amazing, then you gotta read Fist of the Blue Sky.

I'd say both.
Anime does some scenes that are meme-worthy and still a bit of a fun watch (at times).
I mean, can't beat the early season scene of Kenshiro beating up a tank.

Manga is a must!

There is a new anime in the works.

I liked the first half(?) of the manga, then got pretty bored with what I was reading, and havent managed to muster up the desire to finish it.

I cant remember exactly, but it was definitely a bit after the timeskip

Yeah, that I can critique the general story on because after Raoh bites it hardcore, the authors had to keep going with something.
The Gento arc was fine enough, but comic book-tier retcons that followed when Ken got to the Land of Shura was fairly kooky and reeked of the writers making up shit just to keep the story going.
There's a reason the anime ended right after Shura when Kaioh bites it...

The melodrama and soap opera-esque stuff in the anime is so chuckleworthy at times but all part of the charm for Japanese Mad Max.

Honestly I just think watch JoJo's bizarre adventure, it's a perfect homage without being outdated.

It's an OK manga, but it suffers from chapter to chapter writing with no real forethought that plagues a lot of series like it. I've never seen the anime, but it looks extremely janky. I remember watching one OVA or movie that had some pretty good animation.

Well, old anime is old, as in 1984-88 old, so yeah the animation wasn't terribly great, but on-par for animated stuff back then.

The 1986 animated movie had budget, so yeah they went all-out with that one.

Honestly, if they are redoing the anime (which it sorely needs), they could use that to iron out the plot and seal up any holes (so that depending on how far the new anime does go, they could mesh everything together to be far more coherent).
