Current Events > Anyone else just feel numb to the atrocities in the world lately?

I'm talking about very recent events in the Middle East, with the attack/genocide on the refugee camp a few days ago. Does anyone else feel numb about it all?

That doesn't mean I don't care. But what I mean is that as a human being, I just feel like I'm just kind of at a loss for words at this point. What is there for me to even say?

I hate the atrocities, I hate feeling so powerless in the face of pure evil, etc. I'm just so...numb at this point to these acts that are nothing short of an abomination. Sometimes I feel ashamed of being human when I see how we treat each other.

i have a hard enough time in my life lately, caring about everybody else is way too tiring. especially when they live half a world away.

if you do care, keep on keeping on.

Yes. This latest era is harsh for people because we can watch it happen live on twitter instead of having it sanitized by various state propaganda apparatuses.

Pretty much.

Back in "the day" when something happened, it was more restricted to the local newspaper and only the nightly news.

But now, we all become instantly aware of something the moment it happens. Technology and/or social media basically gives everyone 24/7 access to the horrors of the world and every live piece of footage.

Joker loves Batman too much to really mean that. If Batman died, Joker would scream and cry and throw themselves at Batman's grave during the funeral and whoever Batman's love interest at the time is, she would just be like wtf.

I'm exasperated and disillusioned. I just pray for better days for humanity because I don't like to witness or feel human suffering

There's just so much, if a single person could take the time to be active about EVERYTHING going on right now, it would overwhelm them.

That's normal and natural. Worrying about things beyond what you can do for them is awful and pointless, even though it's difficult to actually control for yourself.
