I can't get it to work no matter what I do. If I use the .exe it never opens and trying to manually install the .zip the program also never opens

Anyone have experience with this?

I've been playing it on my steamdeck the past few weeks. Trying to beat it before Rebirth.

I'm assuming you have a legit FF7 copy from steam, right?

Not near my pc at the moment, but the last time I used it launched fine and I was able to download/install mods on it.

There was a recent major update. It worked just fine for me, unless I was on Deck - still working at that.

I'd say try reinstalling FF7 from Steam and get another fresh download of 7H - beyond that, it sounds like it might be an OS issue. What are you running?

I tried it out just last year on Windows 11 but didn't have any issues with it. Are you saying the 7th Heaven exe won't open at all? Or the game won't open through 7th Heaven? If the former, are you sure an antivirus program isn't blocking it?

Yeah the cursor acts like it's loading but it never opens. I'll trying looking at the antivirus when I get home

Maybe dumb question, but have you already tried running vanilla FF7 at least once? I think you may have to do that so that it creates some necessary folders.

One thing I noticed with the 7th Heaven mod is that it perfectly read my vanilla save which was like 10-15 mins into the game before I decided to mod it since PC port is outdated and sucks with controls. However, after playing 7th Heaven for a bit, I loaded up vanilla and saw that my save was the exact same as before I had ever touched 7th Heaven. So I guess 7th heaven has a separate save file despite initially reading the vanilla.

I tried setting it as an exclusion for windows defender as well as running FF7 before trying again and neither worked ._.

Well I just randomly went to properties on the file and it was being blocked for some reason.

No change in results after trying to run it as admin? Odd.

Its been a long time since I set it up but I remember it being a lot of work before I got it working right.
