If it was bad, people wouldn't have fallen in love with it. Yes, it's inspired by Pokemon and has similarities to it. No, that's not a bad thing. Even when pokemon was new, other things similar to it were huge and it was a highly competitive space. The lack of real competition in recent years is a big part of why pokemon games have been mediocre for the past decade or more. Which again I am not faulting people for that they can enjoy what they want to enjoy. I am faulting the developers because again they knew what they were doing with the designs period. If they did anything that didnt resemble Pokmon so much the game probably would have still sold somewhat if they kept the guns, it for the most part its that draw of Pokmon with Guns that has an edgy appeal to it. The bad part about it is that it being so blatant means others will try to do that and it would just tank the indie scene down more then help. And the fact that they are still within the same genre goes to show the kind of damage taking an existing IP and skirting around it legally does. The important thing is they have tons of money to work with, tons of attention, and a built in base of a few million players. Now it's on them to support the game and finish it. Palworld already lost that as anything, people will always now compare it to Pokmon.
