If we're talking QBs I want on my team, it's Mahomes, Burrow, and then everybody else. Allen and Lamar need to prove it in the playoffs before they join that discussion.

Although Allen has at least played well in defeat, so I'd put him above Lamar in that regard.

I will repeat what I said last topic. The NFL playoffs are fucking crazy, and one tiny little thing can alter an entire outcome.

Josh Allen has shown solid consistency in the playoffs, and he's usually been ousted by a Herculean feat by the opposing offense (read: Mahomes).

Oh, I agree. The 2021 playoffs in particular were bananas because we had so many games that came down to the last play.

Dre Greenlaw's achilles was torn. I'm sure we'll never know, but I wonder if the soggy and substandard practice fields last week contributed in some way.

Burrow is pretty good but what is your metric for "prove it in the playoffs" because he's won just as many super bowls as josh has and eye test says Josh has played just as well if not better in their combined limited experience.

The metric is that he beat Mahomes in Kansas City after being down 18 at halftime.

And if the Bengals actually provide some semblance of pass protection on their last offensive play they win that Super Bowl.

Friendly reminder that Mahomes has three playoff losses. Two are to Brady and one is to Burrow.

I give Mahomes the threepeat but I think it's gonna be a dry spell after that.

Man, all I can think about with these last 20 or so posts is that I would love to send screenshots of them back to me in 2017, when I thought the absolute ceiling for Mahomes was going to be Brett Favre.

Mahomes and Reid feel like they're just getting started because the first few wins Brady got were pretty much because he didn't turn the ball over and had an elite defense every time.

Mahomes' defense is just getting good for the first time. They feel inevitable for a while.

Eh, you can say that for the first Super Bowl, but Brady was a legit top tier QB by the third Super Bowl win.

I'll be curious to see what the Chiefs do on defense next year because it feels kinda inevitable that Chris Jones leaves.

Football is a brutal sport. Playing more playoff games can have a toll on the body that carries over. One or two injuries and your season can derail. If Mahomes makes it to the SB he wins without question unless the NFC team has BB level DC.

Yeah Brady was fine, but he wasn't taking the game by the scruff of the neck and winning it for his team like Mahomes does almost every time. Usually his defenses were elite and stepping up to help him.

Once you have a few rings it's all just numbers at that point. You go get paid somewhere else. Not many athletes are willing to sacrifice money to win a few extra rings. Most of them are terrible with money.

This is why some players/teams only succeed a little. It's why Brady is the best ever. He was willing to sacrifice some money for his legacy by letting his team add talent at the expense of his own contract. Mahomes did something similar. Elite mentality players will do this.

Players without elite mentality will be like HURRRRR paycheck and then go sign with Cleveland or the Jets.

Well the game was a lot different back then. And he didn't have Moss/Welker/Gronk yet. For that era he was exceptional given his weapons. I do agree Mahomes takes over games.

Brady could sacrifice paychecks because he was married to someone who made more than him. Mahomes is getting paid plenty.

As a Tim Duncan stan, I'm all for praising the guys who take less to make the team better, but I also don't besmirch those who want the money.

People bring up the fact that the Vikings got Justin Jefferson with the pick the Bills traded him and I'm like "yeah but now he's being a fucking malcontent for money off the back of an injury riddled season. This is a push basically"

And obviously, we're talking about a negligible difference when these guys are all multi-millionaires anyway.

I'm not dogging it, get paid if that's what you're after. I'm more-so talking from the perspective of the new team throwing out that huge new contract. What type of mentality are they really getting?

Brady sacrificed more than just money though. He followed a strict diet and sleep schedule. He sacrificed so much that in the end his wife left him. And he's STILL obsessed with football.

Coming out of retirement was so out of pocket for Tom.

This man had his kid mess up one single post route throwing it around in the backyard and was on the phone with Tampa immediately like "I got another one in me"

He's going to be in the booth next year while the Cowboys are getting cooked. Jerry will sign him at halftime and Brady will come out and get them to the SB.

I think the Ravens are just too young right now. When we had Brady they were the only team that struck fear in us during the playoffs. They were the only team that didn't have that mental block when playing us and always played tough. Give the Ravens another year or two, once they get more discipline on the offensive side I truly believe Lamar Jackson can get multiple SBs.

I think that was all Ray Lewis and Ed Reed. They were the ones keeping everyone together during Flacco's playoff runs. And unless we find a way to reverse aging, Lewis and Reed aren't coming back to help this Ravens team.
