i like basketball but there are too many games. the times i tried watching a lot of the games left me exhausted and enjoying basketball less. i can only manage to follow it post superbowl.

never ever gonna happen but if you slashed the games by like 50%, it would be better imo. each conference plays their conference twice, the other conference once.

i could definitely not know wtf i'm talking about and be totally wrong, though.

i don't think you're alone there, a lot of people i know that used to follow along only watch the playoffs now cause watching a season worth of games is just way too much.

i usually have the sixers on in the background when they are on, but it's been a long time since i've actually sat and watched more than 15 games the whole way through during the season.

I feel like this has to be a joke post, because Shakobe was quite literally one of the first "super teams," which is literally what modern NBA is based on.

They've been having the format for 82 games since forever ago. It's only recently that people feel there's too many games?

Also you'd hate baseball then. They have even more games in their regular season.

RONG. super team is multiple established stars teaming up. 04 super lakers, 08 celtics, lebron heatles and so on were super teams

shakobe lakers was just Shaq going to the lakers in free agency and then they also traded for rookie kobe in the draft

not in the same way tho. shaq wanted to stay with orlando. and if he hasn't changed this opinion, he believed you should stay with your team forever. i think he only got traded because orlando didn't think he was worth it and was even getting dogged by newspapers and fans.

That's basically the same as Lebron wanting to win a championship for Cleveland, and ultimately coming back to do so, just with less steps. The only difference is Lebron got his wish, and he basically made it happen by taking a pay cut to return.

not really imo. lebron back to cleveland was free agency iirc. and lebron to miami was a sign and trade at the end of a contract. which is basically you might as well trade lebron to where he wants to go or he could just not sign and leave in free agency and they'd get nothing anyway. kind of what people were talking about around the trade deadline this season. shaq didn't want to leave. lebron did. pretty different to me.

What the player wants is entirely irrelevant vs. what happened, though. Shaq ended up being part of a super team. LeBron intentionally left a super team to try to lead a weaker team to a championship. If somebody hates the idea of "super teams," then they should hate Shakobe, regardless of how it came to be. Saying "super teams" only became a thing recently is just bias.

i think it's relevant. because people are saying they don't like players teaming up/super teams. i view a super team as established players joining up. 2015-2016 warriors weren't a super team. kd joining made them one. wade heat wasn't a super team. lebron and bosh joining made them one. brooklyn acquiring kyrie, kd, harden, simmons? they didn't do shit, but tried being a super team.

people don't really call bulls a super team. you could, because they were the best team ever. but it's not that common from what i see.

seems like player intentions matter in that case. also kobe wasn't really kobe kobe when shaq joined. shaq got the mvp and the finals mvps when he was there.

...It's not a super team because Shaq was the better of the two for a short while? What?

This argument reeks of "It's only a super team when I don't like it."

not at all. i'm a kings fan that's still salty about 2002. there's not a single game i will root for the lakers. they're my least liked team in all of sports. and to me shaq lakers isn't a super team. for the reasons stated. the context and intention of how a team is built i think what makes a team a super team. again, it's why people don't call the bulls a super team, despite being the best team ever.

if you still disagree, then you still disagree.

Ill take todays NBA over 80s and 90s ball anyway. Back then players were to afraid to shoot the 3 and there to many games that ended in the 70s and 80s. Dennis Scott was the 1st player I know of to shoot a 3 on a fast break. Now you see it all the time.

I've never actually heard anyone refer to the Shaq/Kobe Lakers as a superteam before. Shaq joined the Lakers as their centerpiece during Kobe's rookie season. There was certainly hype surrounding Kobe, but he was still an 18-year-old rookie who only started a handful of games that season. Obviously, things worked out, and Kobe grew into one of the game's best players alongside Shaq. But when I think of "superteam," I think of cases where an established star joins a team that has other established stars. The 96-97 Lakers definitely weren't that.

As a lifelong NBA fan, you can definitely see less passion for the game among all the players.

There are no true rivalries, not enough animosity between players, and it always feels like every game in the regular season doesnt really matter.

This is why I miss the 90s and 2000s NBA
