reveals that the detective in question was actually a prolific serial killer that offed each and every one of the prior episode victims and all of his investigations were carefully choreographed plantings of evidence to frame innocent people.

And then the rest of the show is explicitly focused on his murders and his attempts to frame even more people.

Executive producer credit, please, NBC?
