Medically speaking, a significant cognitive decline is common around 80.

It's wildly inappropriate for someone that old to be president. It's embarrassing to watch him walk/talk and think that was the best the dems could offer

All he had to do was step down. All. He. Had. To. Do.

Could have handed Newsom the presidency on a silver platter

Instead his legacy will be one of greed and cognitive decline, similar to Feinstein

did you know you cannot be president without being over 35?

do you think a 31 year old man\woman cannot do the job?

If you do you are ageist and so why would does the reverse get scrutiny when old farts set in their ways get to run things into the ground at the expense of the young?

If someone can be too young to do something, then they can also be too old. People don't live forever and the human body progressively fights harder and harder to kill you. Running for political office at 70+ is not a human right.

Unless you're pointing out specific policy reasons for that specific person, just saying they're too old despite them being able to do the job is stupid, and yes, Ageist, if you're assuming their incapabilities despite them showing you the opposite.

Someone younger can do it better. I wish people could afford to live so that we could actually mandate a retirement age. They can go on vacation or take up a hobby.

This is extremely vague--was there something specifically to make you feel this way? Like, I think ageist terms like "boomer" and "zoomer" are super fucking weird, but I think people feeling like an 80-year-old white male doesn't represent them or their ideas is perfectly understandable.

Roosevelt at 42 is the youngest president. Again, my point is age is not an indicator for good policies. Young politicians can have stupid and regressive policies

We never had a "young" president. This means your declaration is entirely theoretical. Infact the youngest presidents are seen as the best:

Teddy Roosevelt
Bill Clinton
John F. Kennedy

Now imagine a 35 year old President. Highly likely the best President that the US has ever had.

But ageist old boomers would never vote for them

I think that case can be made more clearly than many are doing. It's better than "oh he's old, so he must be senile". I am not a fan of using age or other characteristics as a proxy for specific grievances. It's sloppy and leads to discrimination.

What's the situation at hand
The situation at hand is that because Ruth Bader Ginsburg refused to retire during Obama's first term, decades of her progress were undone in a matter of months.

The issue is because Dianne Feinstein refused to retire, Joe Biden could not make any court appointments for months.

The issue is illness and injury prone politicians will often be in situations where they are unable to vote, stalling democracy at best, or destroying it at worst.

For the president it doesn't really matter because there's always the 25th amendment.

For everyone else it's destroying our democracy.

This is better reasoning that what most people provide.
It's important to note that the two people you reservee had health issues for a long time, so someone saying they should retire due to current health concerns makes sense.

We have no indication at all of those kinds of issues with Biden.

And let's not kid ourselves. Many just think he's too old because he looks old. It's purely aesthetics for many.
