There not much to say that hasn't already been said but this game is so fucking charmless it's unreal

The music, the writing, the characters, the environments, the enemies.

Just feels hollow and soulless

I enjoyed it

Ryder is a fun character. So is New Wrex and Female Garrus.

Exploring planets was fun.

I think if it had been a new Sci Fi RP instead of awkwardly stapling it on the Mass Effect series, it would be more well recieved.

Hard to take a game as storyline focused as Mass Effect and then create a story that both makes no sense and is bland.

It's like when you get over alcohol addiction and then decide to try it again a few years later and you're like oh yeah this sucks

I never actually finished it. I got to the second desert planet and just couldn't make myself play any longer.

It has that MCU dialogue

The gameplay is fantastic, it's just everything else lacks the ME charm.

With the exception of Kumail Nanjiani as a Salarian, of course, that's perfect.

The only thing that would be better is Ron Perlman the Krogan.

It's... OK. But that one planet where it's all vertical and raining all the time is fucking annoying. Was replaying it recently and got a game breaking bug, so that was neat. Whenever I loaded in or fast travelled I'd just fall through the world.

Same!!! Been on and off with it since 2020 and its mainly the dialogue and the bland, lame characters. Its so generic. Also pissed off at no renegade choices, so you have to be a goody two shoes no matter what, leaving out moral dilemmas. Also the faces and their animations, even after the updates are bad. The character designs are uninspired. Also knowing what EA did, gutting the development team to transfer them over to Anthem (glad it failed), so they ended up with two duds in their hands and the exit of many top bioware staff. A lose lose situation all around.

I also don't understand why they went to so much effort to bizarrely find a way to continue the Mass Effect story after Mass Effect with a whole new scenario where they can start fresh and do whatever they want....

And do the exact same backstory again. Krogan's save everyone but then get screwed over in return so they're bitter. Turians/Salarians/Asari still rule. All the power dynamics are in the same position.

What's the point?

Yeah, but the problem is everyone who isn't Ryder, Drack or Vetra absolutely sucks. I want to replay it from time to time, too, but then remember I'm going to ignore the crappy party members again, so it's kind of a straight-up retread of my last playthrough, lol.

I enjoyed it well enough, but its not a game I really think about beyond my original playthrough, and it isnt anywhere near the top of the list of games Id be excited about revisiting.
