For stuff like Switch, PS4, hooking up your laptop etc.

Just got a 4K, but the HDMI input settings are all grayed out. Do I need new 4K ones even if I'm not going to play something in 4K?

You might not get over 4k30 / 1080p60 with older ones, but they should still work in general.

Its fine to use older HDMI cables for general 4K video gaming/watching stuff.

You will only need a newer one that supports higher bandwidths for HDMI 2.1 stuff. (Not no super expensive goofy monster cable type of thing either. Just something that has HDMI 2.1 support in the cable's description).
