Man can't walk 50 metres without some damsel in distress appearing in close proximity, needing a big tough guy with a unique set of karate skills. There is surely a tv trope page for this. Protagonist is always surrounded by adventure. Imagine if it was like in real life where basically nothing ever happens? Tbh I'd enjoy that subversion of the trope. Jack Reacher arrives in Tranquillville Virginia. Walks into a diner. Pays for his coffee. No one bothers him. One lady calls him "darlin". Goes home, watches a bit of tv, falls asleep.
