I mean the amount of popularity from word of mouth alone for an early access game of this magnitude is a feat in of itself. Also, since it's an early access game this means only more stuff can be added to the game. What will be the biggest contributor if it can keep it's playerbase is if they piss off the fanbase with a patch/update or they add something new, but it isn't enough to add to the gameplay loop.
