I don't want to leave, but with recent political developments I may no longer have the option to stay, despite being a citizen and everything :/

Basically, there was a secret conference where racists were discussing plans for deporting Germans of foreign heritage. In attendance were several members of the AfD, a far-right party that gets 20-30% in the polls and that represents e.g. my district in the Bundestag

Maybe I'm being paranoid, but I feel like it would be irresponsible to not at least have thought about this stuff

Your neighbors would be happy to have you, TC. We have our own fair share of racist pricks, but they don't seem to be on the rise to power as much as in Germany.

EDIT: Lol...nvm. Just checked the polling results and the right party here is leading. Wtf is wrong with the world? We've all had it rough the past decade with crisis after crisis, but I don't get how the fuck people can't see history repeating itself worldwide.

which country are you referring to, out of interest? The one I'm planning for is Czechia, since I'm already close to the border and I could continue to work where I do now commuting from there

If it's a possibility that you'll need to leave, then no, having a plan is a great start. The had part is potentially being pushed out in the first place, but that's not on you. Just stay safe and take care of yourself.

True. But I've driven through it enough to think I'd enjoy living there. Maybe if I get job near Aachen in the future
