In general, people tend to become more fatalist in their outlook as they get older.

There is also an internet version of fatalism called black pill which would be like the first option of this poll if it was pumped full of steroids to Godzilla like proportions and then unleashed on a small unsuspecting town like the T-Virus from Resident Evil.

Google that term at your own peril, but its not recommended.

I think most of my problems are at least related to my "lack of money prevents me from getting treatment for crippling mental illness" -> "crippling mental illness prevents me from getting a job to make money" infinite loop. Considering that's directly dictated by living in an economic system where even leaving it is an expensive luxury, I think it's fair to say most things are out of my control.

I believe in a deterministic universe but that isn't really the same thing. It just means every choice I make is decided by determined factors like genetics, experience, environment, etc. I don't really care though. If believing in free will is copium for some people than it's whatever. I mean it's a deterministic universe it's not like they could feel differently...
