A game that isn't designed to nickle and dime you to death with microtransactions (IE Madden) and is primarily geared towards the single-player experience over the mutliplayer (even if it has the option). However the cost of season passes or purchased DLC still factor into the overall cost.

What's the most you've spent?

I spent over $300 on Fallout 4 <_< I bought the Pip-Boy Edition, a launch copy, the hardcover guide, the season pass on Xbox, a Steam copy and the DLC.

Around $300 on the Wizards edition of Ni No Kuni. On just a regular game though, no special edition it was probably Phantasy Star III in 1991 on Genesis. That game was $79.99 which is the equivalent of $178.97 today.

Though the fact that you don't mention the others speaks volumes.

I don't remember the other one tbh there's a lot that I backed at high numbers but only 3 ever that I spent on $1000. The other video game came out and I remember it being ok and it delivered on all its promises and wasn't anything at all like MN9 I'd just have to dig through my history to figure out which one it was.

The third Kickstarter I spent $1000 was for a rerelease of every volume of Kimagure Orange road.

Apparently some people had problems but my copies arrived fine.

Probably $100, I think thats what some of the special edition maddens and nba 2ks are. Would be GTA V, got whatever the most expensive version was but I traded in quite a bit and only paid out of pocket like $25.

The Rock Band set (not counting all the DLC) was I believe $250 for game, drums, guitar, & mic, so that.

Otherwise, probably about 100.

New game: Final Fantasy III (SNES)... I remember it being $79.99 in many places but the first Walmart I found it at was $84.99. So right at 90 bucks after tax.

Old game: I paid $140 for one of my two copies of Action 52. I think I paid $80 for the other.

Pretty sure the Xenoblade X collectors edition, Xenoblade Chronicles Definitive Edition, Eiyuden Chronicle kickstarter backer tier I chose (physical game + OST), and Skyward Sword w/ the golden Wiimote (aka, the reason I will never pre-order a Zelda game ever again) were all around $90.

That would be the most. Unless you count the Zelda Collection Gamecube bundle, which I bought primarily for the Gamecube and the game was just a nice bonus...

3 out of 4 turned out well. Aside from the inevitability of Fed-pushed inflation pushing the numbers up eventually, I can't see myself ever paying over $100 for a game. And it's extremely rare I'll pay that much.

It installs a backdoor onto the system that writes itself into your BIOS + starts screwing with the USB port that you plug it into, leading to the entire PC having severe issues that not even reflashing the system (including the motherboard) will fix.

It did not at the time. It's always possible that someone has come up with something, but due to the nature of the frontloader it is basically just writing in Windows compatibility for a thing that all it does is attempt to write crap directly to the motherboard (ie. basically just writing virus compatibility into Linux).

And I should also say that part of the reason that it goes for your MOBO/USB is to facilitate its "actual goals." It wants to screw with your registry (it basically pseudo-encrypts it) + make it so that the USB drive in question is always stuck to a high letter drive (something like the y or z drive, IIRC) and then hide that from the user. Though because of the already mentioned "bad job" it eventually hides it from the BIOS itself, hence why the USB drive eventually just stops working. This mostly all not really being things that actually make any sense in the context of Linux.
