Got it on my phone. So far its controlling and looking great, we'll see how that holds up. Someone said one minigame is impossible on the phone.

So I went through the fair. I found some girl going "tee hee" lost her pendant. I zooted back in time. I went through a forest. I discovered the girl is actually the princess, or her distant ancestor or whatever. The plot is already intriguing and confusing.

And now I'm already lost on what to do. A wild froggy man appeared and joined my party. The princess girl zapped away randomly. So now me, froggy and nerd girl are just wandering around aimlessly. I'm sure there was some dialogue that gave me a clue on what to do but I didn't catch it.

Ok I figured it out. It was just a matter of not noticing the door in the back of the cathedral, I guess I need to adjust my eyes to these old games where interactable objects can look like background elements.

I then went on to do quite a bit. I was determined not guilty, I got locked up anyway, I beat up some dragon tank thing, then went into the future and beat up the guardian which was the first slightly tough fight of the game. The future here is bleak man. Saw a video saying that maybe we can stop the volcano thingie and change the future.

More like adjusting to old video game habit of pressing X on everything

Curious how you're going to deal with that if it's what I'm thinking about. There's a section that's notorious for getting people stuck there when emulating the game on certain emulators, wondering if that's what they're referring to.

I'm a bit nervous about this. I remember playing Ocarina of Time on a [redacted] and I literally had to quit at the water temple because my keyboard wasn't sensitive enough and wouldn't allow me to aim the hookshot precisely at a certain target.

Nah I was wrong about that, it's just at a certain area of the game you'll need to navigate an area with strong winds where you need to take cover each time the wind picks up. It can be pretty annoying with a controller and I'd imagine the zero feedback from touch controls make it a much harder experience getting that perfect positioning.

EDIT: I think you're actually at the part I was initially thinking of right now. You need to enter a password on a console in the future and certain emulators wouldn't recognize the input because they were incapable of recognizing multiple button presses at the same time.

Maybe they changed the system, what I had to do was enter colours in sequence to unlock the door, but it only ever asked me to do one at a time.

Did you have to catch a rat beforehand? If so, it used to be L+R+X+Y IIRC. And the emulators couldn't read more than 3 simultaneous inputs.

It's more of the touchscreen input than the emulator itself.
Either make an extra button shortcut or use Bluetooth controller. A real one, not chinese controller that emulates touch.

Catching the rat was easy, the touch screen can register movement and button presses apparently.

No, it was a thing long before smartphones and touch controls were mainstream. And it was a problem with certain emulators on multiple platforms. The workaround was mapping both L and R to a single button.
