Yeah getting there is the "easy" part but i think staying there is the lifelong battle. Seems like a lot of people, including me, get to their target weight by ways of food restriction and exercise we have to find time out of our way to do. Once we hit that goal we start relaxing in diet and not exercising as much and not looking at the scale. Happened to me way too many times lol.

My goal is to get under 200lbs and stay there hopefully. Trying to approach it slowly so i dont restrict myself too much and end up back to where i am when after i reach goal. Finding food i like that are healthier and low calories and the right portions so i can make it a habbit and not feel so restricted when i get to goal weight is what im working on now.

Im still a numbers guy so my conservative yearly goal is maybe be 250lb by end of this year from 316lb. Equals maybe to a pound a week which isnt too crazy. I know with strict diet and exercise aiming for 200lbs would be achievable by end of year but im not in that big of a rush.

Today, I ate more than I planned to.

I had a thing of fries, 3 fried chicken wings, a slice of an orange, and a half of a strawberry.

I calculated that it was around 700-900 calories, which is more than I usually eat. I felt guilty and disappointed in myself for eating that much. BUT I decided to forgive myself and move on. I know that one bad day doesnt ruin everything. I know that we shouldnt punish ourselves by starving the next day or doing anything harmful to our body. I know that we have to be kind and patient with ourselves.

We all have good days and bad days. We all have cheat days and treat days. We all have days when things get out of control. But we also have a goal that we are working towards. A goal that is worth the effort and the struggle. A goal that will make us happier and healthier.

Think about Dorothy from The Wizard of Oz. She had the power to go home all along, but she still had to go through the yellow brick road. She had to face many challenges, make new friends, and learn new things. She had to grow as a person and realize her own strength. And we are just like her. We have the power to achieve our dreams, but we have to go through our own journey. We have to overcome our obstacles, support each other, and learn from our mistakes. We have to keep going, keep trying, keep smiling.

So lets get on down, get on down the road, my friends. Lets follow the yellow brick road to our destination. Lets make it happen.

Was that for the whole day? Depending on the size of the fries i consider that a good balanced meal haha

Just used my ninja creami first time. Wanted to do a chocolate protien shake flavor first but since i got it this morning the container wasnt frozen enough. The container of blended frozen mixed fruit, vanilla protien, water, and monk fruit sweetener was frozen enough though so I used that. Texture wise... it was AWESOME. Taste wise was good but vanilla protien i used had a noticeable aftertaste.

So simple to use too. Probably gonna try my chocolate one in the morning haha.

FINALLY able to mix cycling with weight lifting and walking. Doing deadlifts and squats now watching Teofimo vs Jumaine Ortiz. The effort is about 60% of my 5 rep max and 50% of my 20 rep max

10 sets of 5 snatch grip deadlifts at 205lbs

2 sets of 20 barbell squats at 160lbs

Going to try to walk 6 miles afterwards playing College Hoops 2k8. Helps the knees be less stiff the next day.

Diet wise Im better in general but binging a bit more with the Super Bowl coming up. Drinking more than I should.

Id like to join this topic ^^

Starting weight: 146lb
Current weight: 132lb
Goal weight: 100-105lb

I actually was happy with my weight up until 2 years ago. I ended up going from 176lb>105lb as seen in this pic: (after/before)
https://gamefaqs.gamespot.com/a/forum/6/606c2c9f.jpg
I was able to maintain this weight for little over a year until my dad passed away Thanksgiving 2021. I kinda stopped giving a fuck about anything, and just ate and ate and ate. I ballooned up to 146lb by Jan. 1st of this year >.>

Since Jan. 1st Ive committed to a calorie count of 900 calories a day. Some days I go a little less, some a little more but never over 1100 calories. I also have been strength training 4-5x a week. Im currently down 14lb since Jan. 1st and I hope to reach my goal weight by my 25th birthday this summer.

My calorie limit is kinda low, but keep in mind Im 411 and my TDEE is like 1450 calories. So far I havent had much issue with hunger or binging, which I think I can credit to my protein goal of 85g a day.

Good job and keep it up. Think a lot of people have been there gaining back weight after losing so much, know i have.
You've done it before so you know how to get it there. and just takes sticking to it. Unfortunate about your fathe though :(

I'm always amazed at the baseline daily calories for smaller sized people especially women. Can't imagine living with only with 900 calories a day on order to lose weight.

I don't know how hard it is for everyone but for me saying under 900 calories a day is very difficult. Let me give you an example. If you go to Chick-fil-A, a large fry has 500 calories and a regular sandwich has 440 calories. Thats already 940 calories without a drink. If you add a medium lemonade, thats another 270 calories. So you end up with 1,210 calories for just one meal, and thats not even a lot of food. You can see how quickly those calories add up. When I used to go there, I would order a large fry (500 calories) and nuggets (260 calories for 8 pieces). See skip the buns to save calories and carbs. I would also get a diet lemonade, which has only 60 calories for a medium size. That would be 820 calories in total. Still not great, but a bit better. To get under 900 calories (for me at least), you have to do a lot of things like that.

Oh yeah i could easily get 1k calories in a meal without even trying. Especially with them fries is what gets you.
Have you put your numbers in for those BMR calculations? What do they say is your calories for maintenance?

Anybody who loves icream and trying to lose the weight might want to invest in the ninja creami. Just made this ice cream with 2% chocolate milk, protein powder, and tablespoon of pudding mix. Froze it and blended it up and taste and feels like a wendys frosty. A pint for 300 calories and 30g protien

That doesn't make sense. It should be like 2500 for your weight. The only reason it wouldn't be is not having any metabolism.

I really think your caloric intake is way too low and likely making matters worse.

Probably only accounts calories without everyday movement not including added exercise so maybe around 1,800- 2,00k to maintain.

I personally think 900 cal is too low especially if you feel like you struggle or starve yourself daily to make it happen. But its ultimately a personal decision.

I think max results without starving yourself could be 1,200 calories.
Think a pound is like 3,500 calories so a deficit of 500 calories a day would be good for a lb a week usually.

Know its tough not to lose as much when you first get started and are a a more sustainable weight for height

I may try that, I've been eating the little debbie pint ice creams for a while now, theyre so good

currently at 212.6 pounds, the last week I've been eating these big baguettes from sam's club, half of one in the morning, the other half near night, the whole baguette is like 1210 calories, and i add in meat like pepperoni, salami, cheese, and bologna, and the whole thing is like 1700-1900 calories, with a pint of ice cream its like 2.6k/2.7k calories a day, with me working out for like 2ish hours a day my weight has been at a steady decline so far, so i highly recomend the baguette route for some, since those seemingly fill me up

Cutting too aggressively loses more muscle. I got quite a bit more muscular over 2023. So around 1 lb a week is good. 2lbs is too much

Exactly. I feel many here don't realize this.

I know I am getting annoying about this, but I worry that many of you are hurting yourself long term with being so aggressive. This can hurt muscle mass and metabolism, and also makes it easier to gain the weight back once done losing.

I get the impatience to get where you want, but better to take twice as long but be able to maintain it.

Thank you to everyone that responded to me! Youre all so sweet ^^

About the calories, yep, 900 calories is no goddamn joke lol. In order to achieve that AND my macros, I have to pre plan all my meals. I cannot eat out at all because the average meal is about 900-1500 like you said.. which wipes out my entire limit and more.

I actually went to chic fil a yesterday, the first time Ive eaten out this year. Here was my meal:
https://gamefaqs.gamespot.com/a/forum/d/d7347547.jpg
1000 CALORIES
NO SODA
NO DESSERT
Okay maybe I didnt need 3 sauce packets and the medium fry but still

My usual days look like this. I ended with 94g of protein and felt completely satisfied. Learning about macros feels like a cheat code lol

That's what I am doing. I only lost 3 pounds in January, but my arms, shoulders and chest are noticeably larger, so it is working. Just slow going. Have to restrict calories while not restricting protein. I am also running 2 or 3 times a week to burn calories more than limiting my calories, and keep my metabolism high.

Sorry for all you have been thorough.

A goal of losing 0.75% to 1% of body weight per week is pretty good for trimming fat and not losing muscle. If you go pretty high above 1%, you will start losing a lot of muscle. To lose that much weight per week too you really need to restrict your calories, which makes the diet really hard. And then you start the feedback loop of your body starting to lower your resting calories, so you need to drop calories even more now to keep losing, making the diet even worse, etc. Also once the diet is over, there is a much higher risk of just eating everything in sight and gaining the weight back.

If you have a slow and steady pace of losing weight, the diet doesn't quite suck as bad, easier to get nutrients in, won't lose muscle, and when the diet ends its a lot easier to maintain a healthy diet. You don't want to go too slow of course, like below 0.5% body weight per week just gets really hard to maintain and track (scales are not that precise). 0.75% to 1% per week is a solid goal.

Weekly weigh in was 170.2 lbs and 12.3% BF, down about 1 lb since last week, not terrible, but was hoping to be below 170. Gonna break my sober january on Super Bowl sunday, hopefully I don't go to crazy on the cheat day!

Strength training definitely helps minimize muscle loss. It essentially tells your body that you're using that, so don't use it unless necessary. A little muscle loss comes with the territory. No one wants to lose like .25 lbs a week to make sure there's no muscle loss.

Youre probably in a much better spot though at 900 calories. You're just small, so it sounds super low but it's fairly reasonable in your case

This was just frozen fruit i blended in water and some sweetener. Froze it solid in the ninja creami cup and turned out like this after 3 spins with a splash of oj in the last spin.

Can definitely see me using this everyday which would validate the purchase of 160$

First of all, well done on your PR. We are happy for you. I know its tempting to binge when you go to those places sometimes so Maybe fasting is not for you. Have you tried eating small and healthy snacks throughout the day, like fruits or something like that? That way, you wont be too hungry and overeat at night. Or you could have a protein shake. Its better to have 160 calories now than to eat too much later. But even so, you should still give yourself credit for your weight loss progress so far.

Feel your pain
I work 7pm - 7am on weekends and i used to get breakfast in hospital cafeteria with like biscuits and gravy, eggs, sausage and bacon. That or drive to McDonald's on my way home and eat from like 2-4 breakfast sandwiches.

Now i have been able to just drive straight home and cook my scrambled eggs with equal amount whole eggs and added carton egg whites and a breakfast chicken sausage from freezer i premixed and formed into patties. Usually takes 10 minutes or less to get cooked and usually satisfies from not eating during 12hr shift. If still hungry i just eat a banana or make one big kodiak protien pancake with chocolate chips.
