He was chucking entire mountains and was able to use earthbending sight.
He was doing most of his heavy earthbending in avatar state, which doesn't really count, unless you wanna argue that he also mastered lavabending in the first season since Roku did it for him. I guess if you mean the fact that he learned how to control avatar state at the very end counts as mastering everything, then sure.

The seismic sense is more of a Toph-specific technique that Aang picked up from her. I don't think it's a particularly high level technique, just one that most earthbenders never have to pick up. Since Toph was learning from badger moles, presumably it was one of the first things she learned from them. Aang's earthbending has a lot less success against named opponents - he has a bad habit of using it to either turtle up or make armor that still gets him sent flying anyways (Book 2 finale, twice during the Ozai fight, etc.)

I'm just going off Toph and Zuko saying in the finale verbatim that Aang did not master their respective elements. I would honestly argue Zuko's barely a firebending master either in that he's a lot more proficient with the dual swords and subterfuge than he is with firebending. Though he's a lot better after the sun warriors episode, so maybe he did master it by the end.

Thats just shoddy writing then. Why say his bending still needs work and then show him performing master-level techniques?

The whole "end of the summer" ticking clock definitely made the series feel relatively short. In a multi-year, multi-season show you can't really suspend disbelief if five years pass and everybody's like 22 by the time you reach the finale.

I skimmed the fight on Youtube and Aang doesn't do anything particularly impressive with earthbending outside of the Avatar state. He throws a few rocks - albeit real big rocks - and does the earthsuit. I imagine Toph teaches seismic sense pretty early on because it's probably one of the first things she learned to do. And the reason Zuko and Aang prioritize the lightning redirection should be obvious.

Nobody's saying he's bad at earthbending or firebending by the time of the finale, he just isn't a full-fledged master.

So, what are they covering from the show?
What little they've shown made it clear this is an easy pass.
