You have a choice between saving a puppy or a briefcase full of 20k in cash. That is sinking into the abyss never to return. It is weighted down so you have to react fast. And so is the puppy. It's a full blooded Alaskan Husky.

If it's owned by someone that rich, it might be Elon Musk or something. I'd rather not associate with that. Even if I saved the puppy, if it was Elon Musk's, I'd rather remain anonymous.

It's always remarkable to me how quickly some people will jump to the defense of whatever X animal tickles their fancy for Y arbitrary reasons, and attempt to demonize anyone who would do otherwise -- yet there are likely countless other sorts of creatures they would not afford that same luxury for, and probably step on, crush, or otherwise eradicate in the thousands (maybe even fully intentionally) over the course of their lives, all without a second thought (and without a $20k incentive)

Very remarkable indeed

Would you save a person if it was the same situation or take the money instead? Even if it wasn't a dog I'd still save the animal or person. No amount of money (at least to me) is not worth a life.

Humans, last I checked, are also animals. I'm not excluding them from my above statement. I don't find them to be inherently more valuable than any other form of life.

Assuming this puppy is not our pet and that this human is similarly one that has no pre-established familiarity/relation to me, it's still basically the same scenario to me.

Puppy easily. Id do it for any dog but the fact that I had Alaskan Malamutes which are similar to Alaskan Huskies hits even harder. I couldnt willingly let any animal drown.

It said the puppy is weighted down. It's a choice of one or the other. It wouldn't be paddling anywhere.

All right. Still the money, because the government made a clerical error in 2012 and decided last year that mean I owe them $50K.

But what if it was a Pitbull Puppy? Does that change your minds?

My heart says puppy, but my head says money. I'd like to think i'd be smart and take the money, cause that's quite a bit of money. But I don't think I could let the puppy drown if I had the chance to save it. So I'd be dumb and save the puppy. Even if it were a pitbull.

I can live with that, not to mention my hypothetical $20k.

Especially when, like I pointed out above, I feel like there is quite a heaping helping of hypocrisy coming from those trying to vilify the money-takers that many of them aren't willing to admit to.
