If you were carrying a baby and financially stable and found out that the fetus would have a disability, would you have an abortion? Would your abortion be conditional depending on the disability?
If your partner was pregnant and the screenings said that the child would have a disability, would you have any feelings or wishes that you'd share with your partner in hopes of influencing their decision?

If I was in a position where I am open to having a child (that is a big if) and was the one carrying it, I think that unless the child was sure to die young because of something like Tay-Sachs, I would choose to bring the child into this world. I think that if I decided to have a child, and I was the one popping them out, that it would be discriminatory to deny that fetus the experience of human life because of the genetic lottery. If my partner was carrying the child, I don't think I'd have the right to attempt to influence their decision unless my input was requested. For the partner, that's because I believe that when it comes to willful actions performed in a way that lead to pregnancy, the ultimate decision as to whether to carry or terminate a pregnancy is should be on the shoulders of the pregnant person.

I expect this topic will probably be closed.

Why would I risk a 33% chance of my child losing the ability to walk, talk normally, and function by adulthood?

What is normalcy? What is normal living for someone with a disability may be different from someone without a disability.

Do you carry the genes that are associated with a disability? I know that some people who do carry genes that may pass on a disability are hesitant to engage in making babies for that reason.

Google says first trimester, but I'm not an expert and look beyond that. Results also say that not all things are necessarily detectable.
