I keep misremembering and assuming Matthew was the protag from the start.

2 and 3 being hot garbage made me go you know what, Xenoblade 1 was simply lightning in a bottle. It's not that they botched those two sequels, it's that they got lucky with 1 being so fantastic. It's just so drastically different from 2 and 3; tone, characters, caliber of voice acting.

I honestly get so mad because if 2 and 3 had been anywhere near as good and provided the same experience as 1 on the Wii, I would actually have more Switch games to play since the library is already so sparse, being only Nintendo titles or games I don't already have on ps4.

What an utter disappointment of a game, 1 will be remembered for the brit and cuck jokes, 2 will be remembered for the tiddies and 3 will be remembered like kingdom hearts 3 is

2 and 3 aren't hot garbage imo, there was effort and love put into both games even though there was some really really cringey as fuck moments in 2, while 3 was just forgettable in general. Though with that said, one thing all 3 games got right was the music.

It actually switched places with Splatoon 3, likely due to some last minute bugs or issues. That's why the CE for the game still released in fall separate from the original version.

But yeah, it was awesome getting it the year it was announced. I'd much prefer announcements for sooner upcoming releases vs. these little teasers for projects that have barely been started. I feel like the latter puts undue stress on the dev team too because if they start taking too long then people never shut up about it (see Cyberpunk).

Kind of surprised by the opinions for XB3 here though, I loved it. It felt like a big apology letter for 2 and really what it should've been. The ending didn't really land and the villain team and connection to the other games was weak, but the actual gameplay and moment to moment stuff was great.

3 is everything 1 wanted to be but better and with a cast that isn't tossed aside for the main character to solely suck up the spotlight

Rather, it's more like going from Paper Mario to PM Origami Splash and the rest of those Paper Mario in-name-only titles.

Well that's on you. Xenoblade 3 was great and it sold well within expectations.

CE acting like this game wasn't highly regarded with a great cast, story, and music is nuts. Future Redeemed is the whip cream on top with all the fanservice for the other two games

I can get preference, but Xenoblade 3 (and 2 for that matter) being considered "hot garbage" is wild to me.

People hate 2 because of the designs of Hikari/Homura so the whole game is trash. That's like the only complaint I ever see about 2 when the story is great and it has amazing music. I also thought the gameplay was better in 2 than 1. I thought XB3 was pretty good up until chapter 5 or so. Then it just seems to go completely off the rails.

I do, at the same time XC3 was a bit underwhelming from a world design standpoint. I get that it is a literal world at war, even more than XC1's world, but they went hard with the "focus on survival, no fun allowed" story themes to the point that it limits world lore and design mostly to that. Don't get me wrong I really like XC3 for the most part, but I think it should have had a bit more variance in it.

Was it any good? I liked the 2nd one it had Pyra/Mythra and the blue flame big boobed girl too
