For the first time since 2008

I used to HATE this game. I vaguely remember being at a friends house, someone handing me a wii wheel, turned on motion controls, and kept zapping me with the thunder cloud

Giving it a second chance this morning, and man I mustve been some kinda hardcore mario kart purist back then, because this is actually pretty good overall. It actually controls a lot better than double dash (which i always felt was too slippery), and seems to lay the groundwork for 8 in a lot of ways

Some of the stages are too gimmicky (fuck bouncing on mushrooms), and theres some items that piss me (still hate the thunder cloud), and oh my god the babies on motorcycles are TOO fast.

The drifting is also toned down way too much (i guess to get rid of snaking)

but overall pretty solid

I still consider it the best game in the series. The online was amazing and had loads of fun playing with people from Gamefaqs. Not played it in like 13 years though so it could feel a lot different to go back to now.

im kinda sad i missed out on that. I did get to experience the mario kart ds zeitgeist though, and man those were some good times. I still have my same copy from back then, and i can still look at my friends list with all their customized icons. What a time

I liked it a lot, played a ton of multiplayer vs my sisters. My 2nd favorite after MK64.
