I like them when it make sense to laugh, but don't shove that shit in every 2 mins or it'll get annoying

Telling someone a joke is funny is the quickest way to ensure it isn't funny, and jokes would actually get cut for being "too funny" because they thought the studio audience would laugh at them for too long. Laugh tracks are demonic, as are prompted, enhanced "live studio audiences."

I prefer studio audiences, but I still tend to tune laugh tracks out when a show has them. It's not distracting.

They're necessary because they tell you when you need to laugh.
If they were not there, you would not know when to laugh.
You would just stare

I've been watching Cheers again lately and it made me realize I'm the same way. Sometimes you'll hear a dude laugh weird and loud. Sometimes the audience will miss a quick joke. I like it that way.

Single-camera sitcoms don't use em since there's no fake sets & no "live studio audience"

I Love Lucy literally invented the multi cam setup. Lucy also invented reruns so she could take a week or so off to have a baby

Fixed it, it's kinda odd imo

Single camera sitcoms are much more dynamic and edited and they definitely use way more cameras then something like Friends or Fresh Prince

Yet multi-camera sitcoms are largely stationary and simple in comparison to things like Modern Family or The Office

It was also recorded live, how many other Sitcoms did that?

Also, I love Lucy is probably the oldest show I can watch occasionally and LOL. It still holds up thanks to Desi Arnaz's one liners.

Some British sitcoms do this too. I heard a guy unable to stop laughing in Little Britain because of a scene he found hilarious.

Always found it annoying and intrusive. Unnatural, even. Much prefer the studio audience, even though that laughter can be manipulated too.

Not sure, but considering Lucy's massive success, there had to be a bunch of people that also tried it. Lucy was a TV juggernaut

Lucy fun fact: In a lot of episodes you hear a lady say "uh oh" very loudly when hijinks are going down. Your gut reaction would be that it's stock sound. It's actually Lucy's mom who was often in the audience. They did later use her as stock crowd "uh oh" for other shows though simply because I Love Lucy popularized it

No not really. Seinfeld did it really well with a live audience. The crew would actually tell ppl to stop clapping and cheering when Kramer entered because it would disrupt the flow of the show.

But tbh I don't really have a problem with them. I'll just laugh when I want to laugh. I like I love Lucy.

I hate when sitcoms don't have laugh tracks

Without them, how the hell am I supposed to know which lines are the ones the writers intended to be funny?
