why not just keep the computer on and open the whole time? seems pointless to sleep it, losing efficiency

It's easy to get into this spiral even with a gf, friends, career, money, and social life.
Not every day is going to be action-packed, and it's very comfortable to just go home, be on the computer/watch TV, sleep, work, and repeat the cycle until someone else breaks it, like going out on a date or hangout. It's tougher to gather people when everyone on average is poorer and working multiple jobs.
