I'm watching the newest episode of Shangri-la frontier and I still don't know what kind of game he's playing. It's like some sort of mix between a souls like, an actual mmo, and a few other things with some SAO sprinkled in for flavor.

The whole point of the show is how good this game is, but it doesn't even look that fun. I almost wonder if the person who wrote this even plays videogames. This guy is level 33 fighting 4 level 99s with "skill alone" and his "amazing" reflexes from all those bad games he played.

Like wtf?

I hope that full dive vr isn't just multi-player only. And that it'll happen in my lifetime.

The series was started way before Elden ring is released.

MC's other games includes non multiplayer mode, which he play at the start of the series.
The main game is an mmorpg tho.

I don't trust any irl techbro to develop "full dive" vr like it's depicted in anime (anything invasive), but EEG VR headsets would be fine and more than enough to make VR accessible to everyone. I'm surprised it hasn't happened already considering drone racing with EEG headsets has been done before, so I wonder what's the problem

The whole no clothes besides maybe a head piece thing has been a dark souls meme for a long time I think.

Honestly this anime would probably be way better if it was trying to ripoff Elden Ring but just make it an mmo. Like this game is supposed to be good because because the tree mage has a bunch of bs one hit attacks that are not at all telegraphed or anything like that? And this guy is supposed to be video game Jesus because he can last 5 minutes with this level 120 nightmare at level 31? (After beating a bunch of other overleveled bs)

It just feels like they don't know what makes a good game. Like is the next boss he has to fight going to be a huge damage sponge that always one shots, doesn't telegraph, and has a completely random and unknowable attack pattern or something?

It's just getting silly with the artificial difficulty bs and massive level gaps at this point.

Deep dive VR in real life would be placing your brain in massive danger. Remember in The Matrix what happens when someones plug is pulled?

Dunno, but the no armor/full agility build has been out there for ages. Some classics has their armor purged when they go speed mode.

Most games that let you choose your equipment have naked runs. Similarly, base stat runs. Pick a fresh character and try Wu Zhang Plains on hard.

I guess it's just not as fun to watch when every challenge is increasingly ridiculous. Like it would be a lot better imo if the challenges he faced were at least remotely feasible for 1 person to consistently do. I dunno.

This actually makes me a lot more hopeful for this type of stuff to come out in my lifetime. That does make a lot more sense than full dive or anything where you have to be unconscious though.

I think most full dive vr games will have options for solo play and that the games will have plenty of variety. Making them all mmos would be way too niche.

But when the tech comes the PC Master Race will be history.
