it wasn't an issue with my Pixel 2XL, but up until I smashed my 7 Pro last night, it was already at 40%. However, a good amount of that storage was was from older photos and videos of the cloud downloaded on it.

I don't plan on playing too many games, but perhaps the 4k videos and photos could take their toll in 2-3 years vs 1080p photos on Pixel 2XL? Especially when Google is offering 7 years If support for the 8 series.
I wass thinking of getting a 256GB version and returning the 128GB version of the Pixel 8 Pro I bought today. Pixel phones don't support SD cards.

What do you guys think?

I've never had a cell phone but I have an ipad tablet that is basically like having a big iphone and I have a 512 GB ipad and its 6 years old and I still have 465 GB free. So for me personally if I had an iphone I would see no reason to get anything bigger than 128 GB.

128 is fine if you don't plan on downloading too many games or mobies or whatever. Or even just as long as you keep on top of it all.

256 is definitely nice to have though, especially if you less organized like myself.

I take around 5-8gb of photos on trips a week. If you take vacations frequently I suggest not going with 128gb, though you could solve that with back ups and harddrives so it's up to you.

Experiences with tablets don't count because they're basically streaming/media devices.

I have a 512GB - as a parent of a young child, I wanted the peace of mind that storage will not be an issue as I capture pictures and video. All my videos are set to 4K so I wanted to future proof myself on the storage front.

This is exactly me. I also put my entire music library on my phone, which takes up like 50GB or so, and I'm pretty much forced to get the 256GB.

I'm assuming your phone is at least 4-5 years old.

Newer phones take up a lot more storage for the latest OS. And then there's 4k photos and videos, which will take up more space than HD photos/videos. It builds up fast.

I admit I have a lot of apps, but I don't have a ton of games. Some social media apps take up like almost 1GB though.

Since you're saying it'd take like 2-3 years to maybe fill up, I think you'd be fine if you kept the 128GB and simply archived old videos and photos at some point on some other storage.

For myself, I'm fine with 128GB. I only put an additional 128GB SD card in my phone because I got a two-for-one sale on it. I've only used it as a glorified USB drive a couple of times to transfer large files.

Probably go for 256 if I was getting a new one, but it's far from something to upgrade solely for the sake of.

I can't believe I spent a grand on a freaking phone. I had a gift card, but still over 1000 after taxes. oh well.

Yeah I don't want to worry too much about having to delete stuff or buy cloud storage yet. I guess I can manage but twice the storage for only $60 seems worth it. It's too bad 256GB wasn't the minimum.

ah fuck. I found a really good deal for 128 GB 8 pro on eBay. $900 after taxes. I couldn't resist. Only because the seller has 100% feedback and has a sold a lot. I canceled my Amazon one that would be arriving tonight with twice the memory. msn I had to. Saved almost $200, even if it's only 128GB. I certainly saved that much from the best but one I bought but it won't come until Thursday at the earliest. I hope I don't regret it.

obviously depends on the person. for a lot 128gb is fine if they don't do much with the phone but text/call/internet.

i have 512gb on my phone and used up 270gb of it in the 2ish years i've had it. so 256gb wouldn't be enough for me. i went to the metallica concert last night and a 3.5 minute vid i took is 500mb itself. so 4k video definitely eats up space quick. 4k pics if you take A LOT will eat up space a lot too. if you pay for the cloud it's not really an issue since you can just transfer to that and free up space but i never been a fan of the cloud and prefer to just keep my own hard backups which i have cleaned off the majority of the pics/vids on this phone a few times already. honestly if i kept everything i've ever had on this phone including games and other apps and just never deleted anything i'm sure my phone would have been completely full awhile ago.

A 5 year old phone is plenty for 128GB, assuming most pics are in full HD. on my current Pixel 2XL, I'm using 84 out of 128GB. That phone was lasting me for 5 years with that much storage before I got the 7 Pro last year.

I've recently just bought the new Samsung ZFlip 5. I was debating to either go for 256GB or the 512GB.

Trust me.. recording videos in 4K really takes up tons of space. I've decided to go for the 256GB because I'm no longer gonna record vids on my phone as i'm planning to buy a dedicated 4K camera.

Not sure how many have Instagram here, but my insta stories also takes up lots of storage as well.. sheeeesh. Overall, I feel that 256GB is the sweet spot. 128GB is too low imo..

Ok that's fine.. I'm picking up the phone from ebay I bought today anyway and returning this one...

Speaking of which.
Dammit. FML. So my 128GB phone from ebay arrived today but I wasn't home, but I need to pick it up at the post office (that's okay).

That being said.... Not only does Google have black Friday deals, but Amazon Prime matches them as well. $200 off for Pixel 8 Pro. $859 for 256GB! I go back to the listing on my eBay page and I noticed the seller (pretty sure they just wrote this in recently) says there's a 20% restocking fee for returns. SMH

I mean I can give it a shot and ask the seller.. But I already requested a color change at the last minute as an attempt to match the one I bought from bestbuy, and the fact that I might have to ask to return it is going to annoy them. Most likely they're going to go with the 20% restocking fee. smh

Maybe I should just suck it up and stick with the 128GB? uhh

I will say it's nice to not have to worry about space. That sucked back in the day when 32GB or 64GB were standard.
