In certain instances, that can be part of what a therapist does. That barely scratches the surface though.

Probably gonna get flamed for this, but IMO therapy is a waste of money for the vast majority of people.

People who can afford therapy can afford to do better more sustainable coping strategies like

Going to the gym
Eating healthier foods instead of junk
Connect with close friends and family
Breathing exercises
Remove people in your life who consistently make you feel bad (If it's a boss find another job)
I will say that this is true for me, especially exercise and connecting with others. Way more impactful than therapy. But that is just me, and I would never assume it is the same for others.

I've been in therapy for five and a half years and have made little progress.

It does works for some people, but it definitely hasn't for me.

It helps some people. I don't believe a therapist can make my life any better though, personally. It's not like they can wave a wand and make you happy.
