It's Olay Regenerist Retinol 24 night serum. I already did some research beforehand so I sort of know what to expect, but a little extra tips wouldn't hurt.

1) Only use in the evening
2) My skin may experience irritation or peeling
3) Use a moisturiser after applying the serum
4) Use sunscreen before leaving the house
5) It'll take weeks or months to see the effect

Anything else I should know?

After a few weeks you should add this to your routine.

And also, find out how long you should wait before applying the moisturizer.

My current regimine is like this.

In the morning, if my face is a little puffy, I'll put on an ice pack while doing my stomach crunches. I can do a thousand now.

After I remove the ice pack, I use a deep pore cleanser lotion. In the shower, I use a water activated gel cleanser. Then a honey almond body scrub.

And on the face, an exfoliating gel scrub. Then apply an herb mint facial mask, which I leave on for 10 minutes while I prepare the rest of my routine.

I always use an aftershave lotion with little or no alcohol, because alcohol dries your face out and makes you look older.

Then moisturizer, then an anti-aging eye balm followed by a final moisturizing protective lotion.

I'm sure it's not the only one that works. Hyaluronic acid, niacinamide, ceramide are some of the common ingredients you'll see in skincare ingredients and they are proven to work.

But retinol is said to go one step further and promotes skin cell renewal & that's why it's a main ingredient in anti-aging skincare products.

Retinoids in general work pretty well for a variety of skin conditions like acne or photoaging. Doctors will hand out tretinoin prescriptions without much issue and it's relatively inexpensive even if your insurance won't cover it.

@jiek_fafn

You seem to know more about retinol, should I use it on dry or damp skin? I'm going to be using toner first, so should I wait until it dries first before using serum?

Isn't toner irrelevant?

Cleanse > Retinal > Vitamin C > Moisturize

Replace toner with Vitamin C but I believe Vitamin C would come after retinal. And double cleanser sounds overkill.

Nah, I'm not gonna double cleanse. The author has oily skin, I don't. I'm already using a toner, so I basically only need to switch my current hyaluronic serum with the retinol one.

Dry
Youre supposed to wash your face and then use it right after. It's trying to get in your skin. It's easiest to do that with nothing in the way. I'd use it before the toner tbh
