Had a lymph node lanced on my arm when I was like 10.

It was the size of a gulf ball and the doctor really dug in there. All these yellow liquid started coming out and I was screaming. My mom had to leave the room. Not sure if she puked or what

I was having brain stem headaches and needed an epidural injection in my lower back. Basically they stabbed a giant needle in my lower back and even with the anesthetic I could feel the needle moving around. I can only imagine what it would feel like without the numbing.

When I was about 11, I broke my finger and the bone was healing in a really unfortunate position, so the doc said we had to rebreak it to position it correctly. I was given the choice of surgery or just numbing it and doing it by hand right there. Surgery sounded scary, so I opted for the second one.

The numbing did not help.

why didn't you just choose the surgery and anesthesia?

Going under sounded scarier to me since I'd never had it done before. Turns out 11 year olds don't make great decisions!

I had broken both of my forearm bones. The doctors were attempting to set the bones. My fingers were basically in these Chinese finger trap type things while my arm hung down and the doctors attempted to fiddle with it to put it back into place. They did this without giving me any sort of pain meds.

After thinking they got it, they took more Xrays. Moving things around revealed that my bones were actually straight up shattered and now scattered all over the place in there. I had surgery two days later to screw everything back into place. After that I felt relatively fine.

Ah that reminds me of a famous reddit story about a guy who broke both his arms.

I dislocated my kneecap when I slipped on ice, and they were lining me up for the x-ray and accidentally popped in back into place, which is technically a good thing but was NOT the manner in which that was supposed to happen, so yeah, it was the loudest scream of my life followed by instant relief BUT 2 months of learning to walk again and routine drains.

Same.

It's kind of non-traditional pain, but corneal cross linking:

It didn't "hurt," but it was like an incredibly intense itch that you can't scratch for 8 hours.

Gallbladder surgery after waking up, the pain sucked so fucking much.

They had to give me powerful pain meds 3 times just to control the pain.

Second worse was having damaged tissue in my knee removed, that pain was mild compared to Gallbladder removal surgery.

cortisone injection into my shoulder cavity. The injection has to get pretty deep into the shoulder, so the needle is fucking massive, and the actual fluid is thick. So it was a sickening feeling of my shoulder getting tighter and tighter as the fluid was injected along with a needle jabbed deep into my arm

Ended up passing out and then waking up with the doctor staring down at me lmao

Either have been put under for a operation or local to fix a broken wrist. The surgery was about a blood cyst was on my chest. I was a kid and there was a log and I scraped it on it and it burst. I would have bled out if I hadnt been rushed to the ER. I woke up halfway through and could see the reflection. It's a pretty large scar and although childhood I was teased. Some kids thought it was a spider. Lol

Wisdom teeth. Sucked for like a week, but it wasn't that bad in my opinion. I never needed the vicodin they prescribed. Ibuprofen was enough.

Ingrown toenail removal. Both big toes were horribly ingrown on both sides of the nails, the pain was excruciating to the point where putting socks on made me nearly faint.

Got both removed at the same time, and they numbed my toes for the procedure so I just felt the pressure of them being ripped out which didnt hurt but felt really uncomfortable. Then once the pain meds wore off both of my toes were in constant throbbing pain for about a week.

A spinal tap done by a doctor who couldn't find the right spot. He kept jabbing me over and over, I lost count. Each time was like a painful electric jolt up my spine. I was bordering on unconscious by the time he got it right. I couldn't stand up straight without pain for a week.

Probably when the local anesthesia didn't fully take effect when having an ingrown toenail removed and the doctor either slipped or something let loose under the nail and the toenail clippers suddenly got jammed up under my toenail where I could still feel pain
