The only thing keeping MK1 from being front page gaming news for how shitty their DLC is would be the fact that Diablo 4 is over there charging $70 for horse armor again. Edit: fighting games are already pretty aggressively monetized, but up until now you could expect that an entire new character would cost between $5 and 10. Since MK9, the games come off as very Saturday morning cartoon-ish in the writing and presentation (not meant as a diss; I really like that MK never really took itself very seriously). But with MK being MK, they have to go over-the-top with the gore and the way people are being killed, and it feels like it sort of clashes with the (mostly) lighthearted tone when you're playing through the stories of these games.
