It's not incorrect though. I am an incel but I have a lot of respect for women. I'm more distrustful towards men if anything. My father left me right during a difficult time in my childhood and I was raised by a single mother who taught me to respect people.

It is unfortunate that the term "incel" has another meaning today but I don't have an alternative term to represent my people, few as we may be. I don't feel represented by the "virgin" label. Perhaps we need a new label to distance ourselves from the brotherhood of dark incels.

It's already weird to me that you would define yourself by your perceived inability to get women. Throw on top of that the large group of people using that label who are bad people and also that inherently using that label already mentally makes you vulnerable to bad ideologies and it's unclear why you want to still be like "I'm a *good* incel".

The word 'incel' was coined by a female college student as a self-deprecating comment on her lack of a romantic life at that time.

It then came to mean those who were celibate without choosing to be so.

It has now evolved to refer to those with a misogynist mindset. Who, among other things, blame 'modern women' and 'feminism' for their lack of success. It's now an ideology of sorts.

Yes, it's a philosophy. It's an outlook on life guided by certain principles.

I feel like there cant be that many incels in the world. But from the amount of posts about them on here, it makes you think that there are more of them than there actually is.

There's certainly an incel paradox.

Straight cis women appear to have access to limitless opportunities for everything from casual hookups to long term relationships and families.

Straight cis men, however, need to be tall, wealthy, handsome, socially skilled, and well-endowed to stand the slightest chance of coming within a restraining order's distance of a woman.

So, just who are these women getting together with?

People define themselves by many ways. But defining yourself one way is not to say that is all you ever are and all you ever will be, my brother. I'm an incel but I'm also just a person much like you. You're getting hung up on the term itself.

And I never claimed to be a "good" incel. Indeed, I cannot claim there even is a thing, for I am no paragon of morality. I cannot tell you what is morally just, only how I perceive the world. And in the end, all I'm saying is that though we may not be many, people like me exist. I don't hate women my brother.

The internet definition and the mainstream definition differ ever so slightly, but tends to completely change the group the term is trying to appeal too.

• Mainstream Definition: Adult Male, typically past college age, that cant get a woman to have sex with them due to lifestyle choices that cause them to be undesirable mates.
• Internet Definition: Adult Male, typically past college age, that cant get a woman to have sex with them due to lifestyle choices that cause them to be undesirable matesand are also openly misogynistic.

Its such a superficial detail, but the various hordes of terminally online internet people both wanted to join in on the fun of poking at pathetic disenfranchised men, but also wanted to make sure that the term didnt also refer to themselves.

Twitter basically changed the definition by tacking on that misogyny stipulation just so that they themselves couldnt be classified as incels.

Regardless the vast majority of mainstream society dont make that distinction.
